Senator Hillary Clinton knocked Republican presidential contender John McCain and the Republican party for politicizing the issue of Senator Barack Obama's pastor, Rev. Wright, but tip-toed around her reaction to her Democratic opponent's handling of the matter.

"I have said that that that was a personal decision of his I answered one question about it that made it clear I would not have stayed in that church under those circumstances," Clinton told reporters in Graham, NC. "But, I regret the efforts by the Republicans to politicize this matter and I believe that if Senator McCain were serious he would do more than just send a letter he is the putative nominee I think he could very clearly tell the North Carolina party tell the Mississippi party that he would not tolerate those kinds of advertisements and I'm waiting to see if he does that."

It's exactly the same as when she called for a poverty "czar" the day before her tax returns were released. Attack McCain the day before it becomes public that the Wright press conference was orchestrated by one of her ardent supporters to bring the issue back into the press just before Indiana. This really is sleaze politics at it's worst.

Yes, and too bad Jeremiah Wright was eager to participate. Don't blame Hillary, or anyone else, if this man wants to hurt Obama (for hurting him). A five year old would have known to keep quiet just at this time, but not big-mouth Wright.

I smell rats, lots of them.

Barbara Reynolds. Clinton backer, outwardly anti-Obama, organized the Wright media blitz. Clinton is at the heart of the Wright betrayal of Obama which will surely end Obama's chances.

It was clear that Wright was told to say t 'Obama is just a politician and says what politicians say..' When I thought thats a Clinton talking point. It was obvious that the line was planted.

I had noticed a 180 degree change in the Clinton's take on Wright and couldn't figure out why. Why did she go from "You can walk out of a church...' to stop the negative ads about Rev Wright.

Now we know why. Lots of promises made.

Clintons will do anything, say anything, We all know that. But this? Has there been a dirtier trick?

Obama will have to pull out many miracles to make it out of this. He wouuld have to come out very aggressive, but I do not think he will. He never has in the past. I just do not think hehas it in him to be that way.

What will the clintons have left after this? She won't win the general. The Clintons are dispised and for good reason. Now there is a new generation of Dems that dispise them. They will not vote for Clinton. Its all very sad.

We get the leaders we deserve.

No. Jerem iah Wright is at the heart of the Wright betrayal, Hillary can't force him to do or say anything, he must have been quite willing.

If so, then we should be talking about him. If not, then all of this hocus pocus does nothing but confuse even the educated (that read huffpo) to vote their fears not their interests.

Should have know the Clintons were behind this! They obviously tried to sabotage the Obama campaign once again.

Where's the beef in this campaign, the real issues are not being addressed. With all the serious problems facing this country today I believe the Reverend Wright situation is just a diversion enabling the candidates to ignore the real issues threatening this country. Where are hillary's solutions? After all she has over thirty five years experience.

As someone who was happy in the beginning of this campaign with both Obama & Clinton, I must say NOW that Clinton doesn't do anything that doesn't benefit her and I must wonder what is up her sleeve. I don't like, nor do I trust her motives anymore.

Btw, anyone watching Scarborough? He's so elated about the Obama/Wright thing, as most the Clinton biased media is. Joe has had it bad for a Clinton win that he's having a hard time containing a happy grin on his face. Don't get me wrong, Joe is a Repub., BUT all the Repubs WANT Clinton because she will be easy to beat by McCain. Obama not so much.

Clinton was the first to pile on Obama over the Wright remarks. "You don't choose your family but you choose your pastor."

Maybe Clinton has gotten word that it's gotten out that Billary invited him to the White House to marriage-counsel them over the Monica affair. Here's a little portrait of Wright in the White House with Bill: http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/uploaded/september111998as3-20080320-561.jpg

Hillary has shown herself to be a hypocrite on this issue. How many times can she flip flop over Rev. Wright? First Wright is good enough to counsel her marriage, then Obama is a bad person for being in his congregation, then McCain is a bad person for making the same remarks Hillary did.

Enough. I want to hear from Obama, about the issues. No more from Hillary. She contributes nothing useful to the dialogue anymore.

Hillary Clinton on her Spiritual Mentor Doug Coe:

"He a unique presence in Washington: a genuinely loving spiritual mentor and guide to anyone, regardless of party or faith, who wants to deepen his or her relationship with God."

"Jesus says, "You have to put me before other people, and you have to put me before yourself." Hitler, that was the demand of the Nazi Party. You have to put the Nazi Party and its objectives in front of your own life and ahead of other people!"

"I"ve seen pictures of young men in the Red Guard of China, a table laid out like a butcher table, they would bring in this young man"s mother and father, lay her on the table with a basket on the end, he would take an axe and cut her head off."

"They have to put the purposes of the Red Guard ahead of the mother-father-brother-sister"their own life !"

"That was a covenant. A pledge. That was what Jesus said."

Hillary Clinton"s connection with Coe:

Clinton"s prayer group was part of the Fellowship (or "the Family"), .The Fellowship believes that the elite win power by the will of God, who uses them for his purposes. Its mission is to help the powerful understand their role in God"s plan.

Hillary Clinton said:

"You don"t choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."

She can easily be generous about this matter now, attacking McCain for making an issue out of it, as if somehow protecting Obama. She can do this now because Jeremiah Wright is doing all her work for her. I just watched last night's CNN and the whole discussion was about him dragging the matter up again. Three different analysts on there thought that he was purposely trying to hurt Obama just before the Indiana primary, the reason (they said) being that Obama had hurt him by denouncing many of his words.
What they said is plausible, and it reminds of when Bill dragged up the Bosnia Lie thing when it was just starting to die down. Wright is doing the same thing, this whether his motives are good or bad.
And his saying it's an attack on the black church is going to hurt Obama with some voters---the ones who think that his camp and his surrogates are always playing the race card.
Anyway, with others hurting Obama, intentionally or not, Hillary can play nice guy.

Hillary is doing two things here:

1). She's courting black votes in NC by, wait for it... PANDERING
2). She's desperately trying to get the discussion away from the subject of religion. The last thing she needs is for the press to start talking her own pastor, Doug Coe--a guy who has said that he admires Adolf Hitler.

You might be right about these two things, but there is something else: it's a way to make her look like a really decent and upright person---who is 'troubled' by McCain's handling of this matter. Which always helps with the voters. Clever woman.

Clever?

We have the "internets" and so her previous remarks against Obama over Wright are well preserved.

We also have this picture: http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/uploaded/september111998as3-20080320-561.jpg which may explain why she is suddenly flip flopping on her criticism of Obama for being in Wright's congregation.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:55 AM on 04/29/2008

Wait and see how things go in Indiana, then we will know whether she is clever ---and if so, how clever.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:13 AM on 04/29/2008

You're right and she's the best at deception!

It's not McCain's problem and it's not McCain who is keeping this in the spotlight.

This is an Obama problem, this is a Democrat problem and it is the Democrats, Hillary, the media and most of all Wright himself that are keeping this issue alive!

Typical Hillary/Democrat bullshit, always blame someone else for your dastardly deeds.

Everything Hillary says or does is as clear as mud, Hillary needs to lose and lose big.

If you want to know what is wrong with the Democrat party you need look no further than Hillary and Bill Clinton!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:35 AM on 04/29/2008

Politics as usual.

Hillary is starting tone it down on Reverend Wright after making a mountain out of a molehill - figuring out the North Carolina and Indiana primaries are next week.

That tactic she has been playing for the last couple of weeks may help a little in one primary while severely hurting her in the other.

I think we all have more than a one week attention span, which could hurt her in both primaries.

I can only trust that the Democratic party will not actually nominate such a dishonest, divisive figure as Hillary Clinton to be president.

Hillary is the OPPOSITE politician.
She regularly attacks Obama for Wright (whom the Clintons used), but
she also attacks McCain for doing the same thing?
That's only par for the course with her.
Bill is paid almost a million dollars by China to
achieve the OPPPOSITE of what she promises.
He is also paid by Colombia to achieve the
OPPOSITE of what she promises.
Her most important supporters are the king of Fox, Rupert Murdoch,
Richard Scaife, prime mover of that vast right wing conspiracy,
Rush Limbaugh, the hater of all things Librul, and recently
William Kristol, the Neocon's Neocon, all of whom support
the OPPOSITE of what she professes to support.
But then she IS a known serial liar.
The Chinese are not known to be fools.
I haven't heard that the Colombians are.
Rupert Murdoch usually gets good return on his investments.
Richard Scaife doesn't support anything but the ultra right stuff that we've seen in the B-C administration. And yet we are expercted bny the Clintons to believe that they are all fooled by her?
Not bloody likely!
But McCain is a slime ball for not opposing this sleaze he said he would oppose.

"This is as openly radical... Wright is not an incidental figure in Obama's life, or his politics. The senator "affirmed" his Christian faith in this church; he uses Wright as a "sounding board" to "make sure I'm not losing myself in the hype and hoopla." ... "If you want to understand where Barack gets his feeling and rhetoric from," says the Rev. Jim Wallis, a leader of the religious left, "just look at Jeremiah Wright." ...

read his autobiography, the surprising thing " is the depth of radical feeling that seeps through, the amount of Jeremiah Wright that's packed in there. Perhaps this shouldn't be surprising. Obama's life story is a splicing of two different roles, and two different ways of thinking about America's. One is that of the consummate insider, someone who has been raised believing that he will help to lead America, who believes in this country's capacity for acts of outstanding virtue. The other is that of a black man who feels very deeply that this country's exercise of its great inherited wealth and power has been grossly unjust. This tension runs through his life; Obama is at once an insider and an outsider, a bomb thrower and the class president. "I'm somebody who believes in this country and its institutions," he tells me. "But I often think they're broken."
