The roster of Democratic Party superdelegates is, of course, a list of Very Serious People with years and years of political experience. Also on the list are Lauren and Awais. They're superdelegates who are still in college and majorly procrastinating during finals week by making and posting a YouTube that asks you-- registered Democrats and YouTube watchers-- who they should vote for at the national convention in August to head the Democratic presidential ticket in the general election. YouTube voting is not the most scientific method of deciding on a candidate, perhaps, but it does make as genuine and laudable an effort at transparency as any other method and is likewise as good as any at capturing the will of the constituency they, as college Democratic Party leaders, are meant to represent.

For more information about other superdelegates, check out OffTheBus's Superdelegate Investigation.

Watch the YouTube and tell Lauren and Awais what you think!

IT takes a lefty liberals to come up with a convoluted process that is so confusing that it becomes ineffective yet give the BS that its fair and democratic.

Thats why I like the pubs. They have a simple system that works. Not a freaking brain surgery with its complications that gives an illusion of fairness.

The Far lefties as usual are dubasses!

Sure the least, "dubassed" system is a winner take all system that weights the delegates so that low population states that usually vote Republican get more representation than high population states that usually vote Democratic. I guess that it's pretty much the same thing in the general election. Unfortunately we are still feeling the effects of the constitutional compromises which - too this day - still allow the most retrograde elements of our society disproportionate representation.

Everyone is missing the point. They know exactly who they are going to vote for, they just want to ignite interest and conversation among other young peeps who may not care about voting because they think that their vote does not count for anything.

Dear AmandaSo,

Bless your sense of humor, so refreshing amongst the vitriolic plethora. Even between Democrats, criticisms are amazingly harsh. I read them expecting the sludge to be from Republicans and find instead one Democrat lashing another. People do not appreciate cliches yet what is more apt than the one that goes, 'with friends like that who needs enemies'?

Quite frankly, I think these two nitwits ought to be stripped of their "super delegate" status because it's obvious all they want is their moment in the limelight. If that is not true and they HONESTLY don't know what their vote should be, then they don't have the brain God gave a lemon... and again, need to be stripped of their status. Idiots.

Could not have said it better. This just brings up the validity of the entire super delegate process. It should be reformed or eliminated completely. It is undemocratic and elitist.

If this election comes down to the convention, and stories like this are repeatedly brought to the limelight over this being the way a canidate is really decided, by a rag-tag group of elites, the democratic party is doomed.

The other guys don't really do it any better. The only thing I wish is that they chose kids who have more understanding of politics and history. The Clintons never did anything that wasn't expressly for the benefit of the Clintons. I am older(53), generally voted Moderate, who sees only 1 candidate worth voting for this election: Obama. He's the only one running who has the slightest bit of credibility, and I trust him to do what's right for the country, not just for himself. In other words, I don't expect to see him firing the White House staff to pay back a political favor, nor stealing the furniture when he leaves office, and I really don't see him letting the polls run the country while having China make 'donations' in exchange for Most Favored Nation status.
If we think the economy was so much better under the Clintons lets elect Alan Greenspan and give credit where it's due.
I'd rather vote for McGeorge III than Hillary any day.

Christine Pelosi has the answer for you.

She said, "Many of us {SuperDelegates} are elected by the grassroots of the party..., and I cannot imagine going home in November to those people and try to phone bank for someone who did not capture the {pledged delegate}...vote.; we were all galvanized by what happened to Al Gore in Florida."

The clintons..and there are two or three of them running for the WhiteHouse..
fully expected to be where Barack Obama is now with the pledged delegate count.
And they expected it on Feb.4th..SuperTuesday.... and they expected many things.

But Mr.Obama did the work..and didn't have those same selfish expectations..

It's time to say goodbye to the lovable Clintons..they had over 15yrs.
to make their case..

Read your other comments on other boards and you posted this message tiwice on this board (how desperate); you're for McCain and pitch-hitting for Clinton so that McCain faces Clinton in the fall. You along with the other Repubs are scared out your pants to face Obama in the GE. Well you know what, you should be...

Thanks for asking for our input! Please choose Barack Obama! This 70 year old white lady does not wish to see the Clintons back in the White House to tell more lies, and to obliterate any more countries. Barack Obama would bring our country back into the good graces of the world community. Besides, he has the most delegates!

It's really basic. Simply chose the candidate that you want to be president. If you like 'em both then flip a coin. It's not rocket science.

I wanna be a superdelegate. I blog. I eat pizza. I can post stuff on YouTube. This is so unfair. It's because I'm fat, isn't it. They think these jeans make my butt look big. I knew it!!

I'm not sure that college students should be ruled out as superdelegates simply because of their youth. I am kind of bugged that, having been pegged as such, they seem to be taking it a little less seriously than I would have liked. But then, they're young enough to be my kids, so perhaps I'm just old and cranky. With a big butt.

I wanna be a superdelegate.

Thanks for asking for our input. This year there is more at stake than just the presidency. We have the unprecedented opportunity to fire Bush-policy rubber-stamping & obstructionist Republicans in the U.S. Senate and replace them with Democrats who can get us out of Iraq, enact true election reform, and get big business out of our government. We might even get a handle on health care, equal rights and immigration issues on the way.

The GOP has a well prepared "Anyone But Hillary" strategy designed to bring out their base regardless of their candidate. They"re backing Clinton now, not because they know they can beat her, but because she"s their main Get Out The Vote strategy, even more so than their anti-gay and anti-choice strategies that have spurred their followers to vote in the past. Right wing voters don"t just dislike her, they actively despise her! They'll vote in droves to try to block her, especially during a time of war. Many Republicans are so uninspired by McSame that they"ll just sit out the vote entirely. Meanwhile, new voters motivated by Obama can help us elect 10-15 new Democrats in the Senate. Unless Hillary is still running, of course. She"ll bring out their conservative base again. Worse still, McCain will be able to adopt Obama"s change posture when compared to Sen. Clinton"s old school politics and the mess the Clintons left us at the end of their last term.

Obama can't win the blue collar vote. What change? Show me the change he's going to bring.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:20 AM on 04/29/2008

Thanks for asking for our input, cont. Most of Hillary Clinton"s supporters will vote for Obama if he gets the nomination since either Democrat is clearly a better choice than McSame. But if Obama ends up with more of the popular vote and Hillary wins by buying off superdelegates with political offers, our party will lose many of the new young members and reengaged Democrats, as well as independents who look to Obama for change. A superdelegate coup would also drive away the black conservative voters that Obama draws.

The bottom line is that Democrats will lose the opportunity to purge obstructionist Republicans from the US Senate if Clinton is our nominee. Compared to the millions of new voters who will vote Democrat across the ticket if Obama wins the nomination, coupled with a lackluster Republican turnout for their nominee, your choice seems clear. Even if both candidates were equal in your eyes, Obama can bring change to Congress and the American political system in more ways than even he has said.

This whole thing with Hillary's position of the day, the hourly regurgitation of Rev Wright bullshit, in spite of his extremely thoughtful remarks of late, the general feeling that Hillary is tough because she can dream up new positions hourly, worrying to all hours of the night about holier than thou white blue collar voters, it's getting to be like a dog licking their ass, it sure seems they enjoy it but to the rest of us it is a little tough to watch.

I agree. It should also be limited to citizens who are literate, and make more than 50,000 a year. Also, since one of them is a woman, I suggest we repeal that pesky amendment that gave them the franchise. Finally, I also think anyone who doesn't agree with me 100% is a stupid fool who, for purposes of evolution, must be taken behind the woodshed.

This is not a game people! Democracy is Serious Business! It can't be trusted to the lowly masses! That's why there's a delegate system!!! Now vote Hillary before Barack the Secret Jewelry Hating Muslim takes over and makes Jeremiah "Hussein" Wright the Pope!

I also am outraged that anyone outside of the corrupt, monied interests of the Democratic Party would be allowed to be superdelegates. How dare they!

Furthermore that they be young, and therefore are the ones who are going to have to PAY BACK all these debts we're running up makes it even worse.

And finally, worst of all as other posters have pointed out, that they're asking THE PEOPLE WHAT THE PEOPLE THINK is the greatest insult of all.

It's almost as if they believe in Democracy. How dare they? This younger generation scares me I tell you, they care about what other people think. God forbid.

The problem, as I see it, is these kids aren't governors or senators, and are therefore not accountable to anyone for their decision. I also find it troubling that these 2 college kids have 10,000 times the voting power of you and me.

I am not out raged! I'm almost positive these two young college students are actually more up to speed about politics than most of the people on this blof sight! I think asking the people is a great way to decide! I believe that Hillary has told the American people a lot of lies, an got away with it! It also bothers me the way bill's behavior as of late is out of control! The other day Hillary said she would Obliviate tthe Irans, with no thought to the thousands of Innocent children, women and college students just like yoursel. that alone should give you food to think abou young ones! Know I'm not sure if you heard what the world is saying about Hillary's wipe out the Iran people statement? But I can tell you Nations are out raged! So she's polarized and showed a hateful, fearful , angry face to the world------------The World like the Truethful , honesty of obama and thats one for him! There is no doube she is more experienced, but even that can't out way the fact we can't truest her! You Young people can certainly add up the good and bad of each, and see what candidate will do best in the world finances for America, what one will telll us the trueth, what one will show a good moral, intelligent face to the world, what one will unite the people and surrend him or her with a good administration the help them?

Why are college kids super delegates? I don't understand this at ALL. I thought the super delegates were mature adults who have been involved in politics and know all the ins and outs of Washington and how politics work.

That said, can't they make up their own minds?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:55 PM on 04/28/2008

I am happy that college students are allowed to be superdelegates, older people are not the only ones that have a stake in the presidency. We use to say the younger generation will rule the world, until now, when we actually see young people getting invoved. I love it.

I think you should cast your vote for Obama, we need to bring back integrity into the White House, Hillary is a fighter of the worst type, she fights within the family and this is not a good thing. She has continued to bring a ghetto mentality into this campaign like non I've seen. I am black and live in a city next door to the ghetto, and believe me, I know what I am talking about.

Both candidates policies are not so far apart that one far supercedes the other. However, their personalities, poise, integrity, honesty, deameanor and professionalism is something that we can consider when making this decision. Barack Hussein Obama is the one that out shines them all. Not only is he captivating in his oratory, he demonstrates the strength we need in our leaders when they go against the lions, they can be cool, calm, and collected which will give them the advantage of making decisions, not out of frustration but with wisdom.

Please back Obama for this nomination.

Thank you,
