I read that the New York Times Sunday (and weekday) circulation is down. I must admit that on Sundays it becomes a tough paper to figure out. While this week's paper featured an op-ed piece by Elizabeth Edwards bemoaning the lack of serious, in-depth coverage of the political race, it's tough to figure out exactly what readers the paper is speaking to, or seeking.

Consider this: the Sunday Styles section lead story on April 13th was "Scavengers on the Urban Savannah" (people buy things at flea markets!), and promoted on Page One was "A Sex Chair Becomes A Battlefield." Alrighty then.

This Sunday's lead story was "Through Sickness, Health, Sex Change..." in a section that included the essay, "Was I On A Date Or Baby-Sitting?," and "Let's Say You Want To Date A Hog Farmer" (and who among us hasn't?).

Williams and all the others in Corporate TV media are covering up the lies and criminal behavior that they took part ion.
If Williams is innocent of all wrongdoing why does he not bring up the issue on his news cast.
he is obviously trying to hide something.
I have know for many years how worthless the corporate media is and it is ashame that anyone pays attention to it.
This is why Huff post and others like it must expunge all the gossip, fluffy ,TMZ garbage and go for REAL news.
Williams is a liar and a lawbreaker and his lack of coverage on his nightly broadcast proves it.

Last week the New York Times broke the story about how the Pentagon had orchestrated a propaganda blitz on TV by cooridinating "military analysts" on all the networks, including NBC and its cable affiliates. NBC did not cover it. . Brian Williams did not cover it. But he did cover the Miley Cyrus "controvercy."

Last night on his newscast he framed the story; "Reverand Wright is talking everywhere. Will it hurt Obama's campaign?"

Hey, how about letting Wright have his say instead of telling us what he said. And then, how about letting us, the viewers, decide whether it helped or hurt Obama. Why the need to repeat the narrative talking points about whether it is good or bad?

Why not let adults decide for themselves?

I have an idea. You report stories. We decide the "meaning" of those stories. We don't need your lame ass telling us what to believe.

You are so out of touch. And you have no idea why.

Peggy Noonan?! UGH! Saw a few seconds of her on TV this morning. Heard her voice in the other room (would rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard). Fortunately, I was able to reach for the remote and hit the MUTE button before nausea completely overtook me. She LOVES the sound of her own voice and is SOOOOOOOOOOO sure she is superior to anyone else that may have the good fortune of being in her presence. Ewwwww! She' so insufferably arrogant.

If she had worn a sassy little cowgirl hat this morning, she'd have made a snappy co-host for Imus. Her hairstyle reminded me of his.

"Peggy is doing the work of her career and must be considered an early favorite for next cycle's Pulitzer for commentary."

They give Pulitzers for collaboration?

Mr. Williams since you wanted to curl up with Peggy Noonan's racist op ed, perhaps you might want to stretch out with the Nurnberg Trials as an aperitif. Recall that U.S. prosecutors and judges found propagandists for aggressive wars, war criminals.

Yes Peggy, Jews, Blacks, Native Americans, Hispanics and many others will not wax poetically over Henry Ford.

Brian Williams praises Noonan's flowery bigotry. You see Obama can't possibly love America like us, ....... well because he's black.

Slate
Noonan,
"Hillary Clinton is not Barack Obama's problem. America is Mr. Obama's problem. He has been tagged as a snooty lefty, as the glamorous, ambivalent candidate from Men's Vogue, the candidate who loves America because of the great progress it has made in terms of racial fairness. Fine, good. But has he ever gotten misty-eyed over ¦ the Wright Brothers and what kind of country allowed them to go off on their own and change everything? How about D-Day, or George Washington, or Henry Ford, or the losers and brigands who flocked to Sutter's Mill, who pushed their way west because there was gold in them thar hills? There's gold in that history."

What is with you people?---Peggy Noonan may be a speech writer, but she also has her finger on a smart, reasoned and accessible pulse. Just because she is right of center doesn't make her stupid, or without very good insight. Brian Williams may be a 'news reader', but he, too is smart and much more in tune with the US than all of you bitter, ironic and cynical sophisticates. We aren't a perfect country (far from it) but we aren't as bad as all of you think. Be willing to look beyond the Hudson---there's a whole country out there, and they are infinitely smarter and more sophisticated than you provincial Eastern snobs think they are.

From the West here too & I guess I'm not clued in on the wealthy, right-wing corporatist waspy elite "pulse" of America which is somehow in tune with the rest of America... BUT I DON"T GET IT!

Noonan has been one of the biggest apologists for this administration (up until pretty recently) and cheer-led us into this war that is destroying our country and she feels comfortable pointing a finger at Obama and questioning whether he loves our country?

Who is cynical in this situation?

Probably not. You are, after all, speaking from experience (with irrelevance, that is)

As if any reasonable observer hadn't already concluded that the stiff Williams wasn't a water carrier for all things red-white-and high school jock. At least CBS made an effort with Couric. WIlliams is a throwback.

The NYT crossword puzzle is one of the most fantastic things around. Will Shortz is so nice to package it inside all of the dog training materials, too!

As to NBC, do they have any audience? Who is Brian Williams speaking to?

Noonan. What a fraud. Her fake sentimentality about this country makes my stomach turn. Shedding tears over the Wright Brothers, Peggy? I hope you're shedding a few tears for the brave men and women we've lost in Iraq. How about some real love for this country? How about loving our people enough to care what happens to them? Never mind. Don't get me started.
