Previously:
The New York Times broke the Jimi Hendrix sex tape story:

In a twist on the recent string of sex tapes of Hollywood's young stars, Vivid Entertainment plans to release what it says is a film from the vaults of classic rock: a sex film supposedly of Jimi Hendrix.

The film shows a naked man who resembles Hendrix, the guitar legend who died in 1970, wearing a bandanna in his Afro, having sex with two brunettes in a dimly lighted bedroom. His full face appears on screen for only a few seconds, with his eyes closed. In other portions there are flashes of his profile. But his hands, bedecked with rings, roam large on the screen at times. The film has no audio.

Vivid, a large maker of pornographic movies that is releasing the film this week, has created a 45-minute DVD, called "Jimi Hendrix the Sex Tape," that combines 11 minutes of sex footage with a retrospective of Hendrix's career in the 1960s (but with none of his music included). The company, which has also released tapes of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Kim Kardashian and others, will sell it for $39.95 in stores and over the Internet, and will also offer the film for downloading.

Another dead person's sex tape, go figure. These things are all hoaxes designed to make money, just like the Marylin Monroe fraud tape. They can't be verified and faces can be easily superimposed with digital film editing.

Get ready for the Three Stooges Sex Tape.

It is too bad it isn't footage of him playing his guitar. Now that would be interesting.
This is just silly.

I must be the only one here that has seen the whole DVD, because if you watch the complete show there is no way that you could say it definitely is not him. The profile shots are the best and Cynthia Plastercaster is very convincing. I'm a big Hendrix fan and I've seen him live twice. I truly believe it is him, and I ordered the boxed DVD to add to my Hendrix music collection.

Wow, a Sex Tape on Jimi Hendrix .... a great rock and roll 60s icon from the sixties who's been dead for years and now the media wants to use this as "Dirt" on him? Or no? Well .... it doesn't matter, the man is in his grave, it's not like he's going to be spinning in it, once the general public gets their hands on it. Sure, the sixties was about sev, drugs and rock and roll. But it was more than being about that, it was about people who were really united back then to fight for what they believe in (by way of protest) by the use of civil rights, in a peaceful manner and in the country they were born in. So, if you ask me ... I like Jimi's version of the Star Spangled Banner than of everyone elses'.

Having (sort of) tought, now I will "speak". If I didn't have to get up in about six hours and make braces for the handicapped(true), I would break out the bong and remember the sixties with "Electric Ladyland". Jimi Hendrix was a true original, revolutionary musical talent, who laid the groundwork for most of the modern rock sounds of today. His creative influence still resonates. In the archives of Rolling Stone magazine is a story about a three man band playing England which inspired the formation of, oh, Cream, Led Zepplin, Traffic, and influenced a band or three, including the Beatles and Stones. If Jimi wanted to pose nude or demonstrate a sexual technique, I would have looked or observed. Considering the way he worked on and refined his songs before releasing them(the after-death releases were NOT as he intended them to be),I don't believe he was aiming at a new Kama Sutra. Try to LEARN, instead of BURN, and, if I don't see you no more in THIS life, I'll meet you in the NEXT one, and DON'T BE LATE.

Please don't compare the brilliant Hendrix to someone who wrote the lyrics "she's a freak from her head down to her toenails."

That is just...so wrong...

Ever heard "Foxy Lady"? lol

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:52 AM on 04/30/2008

The person here who said they wouldn't want to watch Hendrix is either crazy or a man because you really don't get it. Although I've only discovered his music recently, he was brilliant and creative and lots of women would want to be with him. Believe it or not, some women find bland Brad Pitt-type men about as exciting as doing laundry.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:22 PM on 04/29/2008

Being a man is not to say you wouldn't be interested in watching him get it on. If you were an aspiring rock guitarist(as I was),you would be more than happy to study at the feet of the master, regardless of the subject.

I saw Hendrix twice in concert and still consider him to be the penultimate rock guitarist. There wasn't a guy who didn't want to be Jimi and not a woman who didn't want to be with him. From what's visible in these brief images, it does look very much like him and no, this isn't Bootsy Collins. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this. Yes, he was privately shy, but the world literally revolved around Jimi between '68 and his death in '70 and, given that there was no Internet, no YouTube/Revver, etc., he wouldn't have to be too worried that these would get out. As to the poster who said the images showed someone with a flabby body, I guess I'm just not seeing that in these images. Jimi had NO fat and was indeed very slim with extremely well defined muscles.

To the one poster who said there weren't camcorders back then, that's obviously true but everyone had 8mm and Super 8 mm movie cameras which were just as portable as camcorders today. These film reels could easily be converted to video now. My family still has tons of Super 8 films that have not disintegrated. It's certainly no less stable than 35mm of which I have a lot from well before 1970. So, who knows...... I'm certain Jimi's family in Seattle isn't happy this is being shown publicly, though. This really is a distraction from the gift of music that he gave us.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:06 PM on 04/29/2008

Nah, 8mm is much more volatile, probably the worst type of film stock if you want to keep it over a long period of time. If you keep it in absolutely pristine conditions, it can last, but it's not comparable to 35mm film. Some of Stan Brakhage's early work was shot on 8mm, and it shows.

Having said that, I agree with you that this is a distraction. A big one. It doesn't impede on Hendrix's greatness. It just shows the baseness of our culture nowadays.

You seem very thoughtful and observant on this subject. ("penultimate rock guitarist)-I couldn't agree more, I haven't seen the suspect images, but I'm fairly certain that , like his musical contributions, he would have wanted creative control over the final product. Therefore, thiis, like every other after-death release concerning this awesome artist is CRAP.

Ain't that Bootsy Collins? Or may be Booty's brother Catfish?

Honey, this somebody's idea of a bad joke. Hendrix? Puuuuuuuuuuuuuleeeeeeeeeeeez.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:12 PM on 04/29/2008

I'm not buying it either. There is a close resemblance but as stated there are a couple of guys back then that had strong resemblances to Jimi. I can't even imagine him being dumb enough to allow someone to film while this was going on.

I don't think it's him and Vivid, being who they are (I love porn but...) wouldn't be able to authenticate it and probably wouldn't if they could.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:01 PM on 04/29/2008

Jimi was waaaaaaay too shy to allow anyone to film him having sex!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:30 PM on 04/29/2008

Ya know I was going to say that too but forgot to mention it. Jimi was terribly shy in private. He came alive on the stage but away from it he just retreated. I saw him three and a half times (the half was at the Waikiki Bowl where three or four songs into the concert, he stopped playing and apologized saying he just wasn't into it and for everyone to come back in a couple of days. The audience was so cool about it I couldn't believe it. They even cheered him.) And they were all just mesmerizing.

The point is, while he was in Hawaii, I got to meet him and he was as shy as you could imagine. He took praise almost painfully. He knew he was good, he knew the people loved him but he was pretty danged humble.

I got to meet him again in Hollywood when he would come down to the Whiskey to jam, usually with Johnny Winter, Once with Lee Michaels and you would have had to see that jam to believe it and he was just as retiring there as he was two years earlier.
