Giant Squid: See All The Pictures (PHOTOS)

A giant squid, the biggest squid ever caught. At 10 meters long with a scary beak and razor-sharp hooks, scientists say there may be bigger ones in the ocean's depths. Here are the pictures via AFP and BBC:

Now, do we think we can try to keep the ocean clean enough to allow that lil fella and his family and friends to survive?

It doesn't look like he survived. Why do we have to kill everything? I hate stories like this one. "Let him be, set him free, let him be like you and me..."

I agree with your concerns, however we're going to kill most species by overfishing before pollution has a chance to, the fishermen who caught this squid were catching "Patagonian Toothfish", an extremely long-lived, slow growing fish that really cannot stand commercial fishing, the only reason they are fishing it is that we've pushed Chilean Sea Bass to the point of extinction so now they're replacing it with an even more vunerable species.
We are destroying the oceans, no two ways about it, all major fisheries are about to collapse, I wish it wasn't true.
Don't get me wrong, I've worked with fishermen and know it's a tough job but if we don't stop them very soon they'll pull every fish out of the sea.

Correction Huffpo:

It is not a "giant" squid (Architeuthis). It's a colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni).

There is a difference, most notably in size.

Either way, I wouldn't want one attached to my thigh bone (or any other bodily part).
