"It's not the best time in the world to be a White House correspondent," said Bill Plante on the sultry afternoon of Saturday, April 26. This was at Tammy Haddad's annual pre-White House Correspondents' Association Dinner lawn party. The blooming wisteria was strangling the woods that surround her house.

These nearly-over final four years of George W. Bush are Mr. Plante's third second-term presidency in his years as CBS White House correspondent. "I guess he could still drop a bomb somewhere--there are people who think he means to do it," Mr. Plante said. "He's still important, but he ceases to be the center of attention."

Mr. Bush gets that. His performance at the dinner that night, which is a worrisome gathering of journalists and sources, would be largely a retrospective clip show of his star turns at dinners past. Not included: his infamous and ill-considered "looking for weapons of mass destruction" skit from 2004.

(He never found them, for one obvious reason, and yet we are still at war over it.)

"As you get into the final year, the wheels start to come off," Mr. Plante said. "The root of it is always the same. The president loses his mojo."

"The story of the Bush administration has really taken a dip," said David Gregory, host of MSNBC's Race for the White House, and formerly a White House correspondent himself. "Everyone is looking forward to a new administration because it will be a great story again."

Everyday this week Gregory has tried to keep the Wright story alive because "people are interested in it." Anyone who has watched "THE RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE" knows that Gregory and his show are biased against Barack Obama. Anyone who supports Barack Obama should simply not watch this show.

David, focus on your new show, your big audition. It needs improvement and I can't for the life of me understand why you would have that old buffoon Pat Buchanan on the show. His mischief in "promoting" Hillary is laughable. He is simply doing what all the Republicans are doing, trying to prolong the Democratic primary by stumping for Hillary, when we all know they despise her.

Get your head out of your you-know-what and get some better right wingers on the show.

Buchanan is the idiot who said, "What's the big deal about some people reading Larry O'Brien's mail?". Since you were still a kid when he said this, I'll remind you that he was talking about the Watergate break-in which we all know what that led to.

No Shiite, Sherlock Holmes. The story was a lie that the majority of Americans figured out long ago...too bad the pravda media, of which Gregory is a member, took us to be fools. Fool me once, shame on me...

If the White House press corps was doing its job properly, Dana Perino would be running out of the press room in tears daily. The White House annual dinner with the press is so oxymoronic, it seems to be against some law somewhere. The White House should HATE the press and do everything it can to keep away from it.

Reading this article simply tells us why this country is in the state it is in. We have no independent press that keeps the American People informed. We have media whores, corporate whores and retired military whores.......money, no integrity.

We have fallen as a nation and we don't know how far and we don't know how long it will take to get up on our feet. I think that if the truth were known, there would be rioting in the streets.

As George Bush Sr. said to Sara McClendon a whitehouse correspondent at that time " Sara, if the American people find out what we have done to them they will run us down the street and hang us".....

WTF? Great story again? Is that why you get paid, to do a sis boom bah "great story" -- do your freaking job (I mean collectively) and hold accountable this president for war crimes and shredding the constitution, fer criss sake!

Oh, I forgot. That's not your job -- at least as your corporate masters see it. Your job is to wait out the lull, until there is a new administration that continues to rip the American people a new one.

Geez, and people wonder how Americans are the most over informed, yet under educated people on the planet. Because the plastic people of the media have won. Great looking. Dull as a clod, and completely compromised.

Yes, but I do not know if the American people are the most over-informed, rather I think very under-informed. Many still think Saddam had WMD and links with al-Qaida. Many think Obama is a Muslim.

Point taken. Informed does not necessarily mean informed with the truth. Informed by overdose of propaganda, lies, and spin. Tell them a big enough lie and they'll (we'll) believe it. Case in point is the WMD lie -- most of the American public who believed that believed it in their hearts. Because they were an "informed" people.

Educated, that is learned, wisdom, insight, truth is the first casualty in an over informed society.

Sad really, but this is where 250 years of America has gotten us. A country full of dubmfucks led by corrupt dipshits.

Once DG began his waltz with the Administration and decided to opt out of true journalism to become friends with the people he was supposed to question, I had no use for him...

"The story of the Bush administration has really taken a dip."

This would be a real debuke, a stinging zinger, a nasty truth,

except...........

the dip of NBC News, and MSNBC, is much greater, and an even bigger source of embarassment.

Sorry, David.
