What's a campaign to do when there's a need to put a controversy behind them? If you're the Obama camp, and you want to maybe have a conversation this month that doesn't include seventeen questions about the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, you craft a simple soundbyte that emphasizes that candidate's well-chosen words, suggests a pattern of leadership, and alludes to a desire to move on to the important issues of the day. And then you hope it works!

If Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs learned anything today, though, is that the media isn't nearly done asking questions. But Gibbs tried, all the same, repeating his soundbyte twice before finally assenting to eight additional questions about the matter. Gibbs was probably smart to call off the effort after a second repetition - it's a fine line, but a third iteration would have made him look like a talking point-spewing cyborg.

[WATCH.]

SCARBOROUGH: Do you think Barack Obama has seen the last of Reverend Wright?

GIBBS: You know, I believe that what he did yesterday was speak clearly and definitively about the outrageous statements that Reverend Wright repeated at the National Press Club on Monday. I think he showed toughness and leadership in doing so. And I think we are moving on to talk about issues that the American people genuinely care about.

SCARBOROUGH: If Clinton and McCain bring up Reverend Wright again do they risk looking craven since Barack Obama has gone there and explained it?

GIBBS: I think what is most important thing is what Barack Obama said and did. Whether others decide to play political games with this, time will only tell. But again, what Senator Obama did yesterday was speak clearly about the outrageousness of those statements. He conveyed that in a decisive way and think again it's time now to talk about the issues that people care about.

Wright will remain an issue throughout. Its i low gear right now; the Republicans barely have it in second gear. It will will fifth gear by October,2008. If the Republicans knew he Wright issue was going to come out they would have found way to get Mitt Romney nominated.

The left wind Democrats who hate Hillary Clinton are ignoing the facts of how a president is elected.
Its the electoral college, not the popular vote or most states. Clinton trounces Obamaon on electoral votes. They say, Hillary only gained 10 delegates from the primary. Duh, wait until November and see how that logic works.

The Republicans know how to win a presidential election. They expected to lose this one because Bush has been such a disaster. But now they see a chance against Obama; they know Hillary will beat them. The Dems are doin their work but it is NOT Hillary's fault. She knows what the Republicans knows. Obama is hoping that his troubles will just go away and a lot of people won't notice he is a wimp and his issues with Wright are a legitimate topic.

Finally,Obama's wife is a disaster. She is arrogant and refuses to answer straight questions about Wright and her husband.

It's the first day of May and Morning Joe and all his people are still talking about Rev. Wright.

Hardly any mention of April's rise in American casulties since Sept. of last year

Or what the "experts" think about the Gas Tax Holiday

Or as the scroll on the bottom of the page claims, "Iran Ambassador protest to United Nations over Hillary's statement to "totally obliterate" Iran ......"

Well that wasn't worth mentioning at all.

Joe, you suck.

What has happened to Pat Buchanan lately? Does this guy ever flip flop! Isuppose he goes which ever the way the wind blows. At the beginning of the Democrat race he spoke very favorably of Barack Obama. TheTV pundits have totally turned me off this year with all their lies and rhetoric. They must think the TV public are stupid . They don't sway me in any way. I am too smart for them. Ha.
You can have Joe Scarborough too. The two of them speak vile. How can Mika sit beside him (Joe)every morning. He totally cuts her off every time she starts to speak. And what about the way he treats Rachael Maddow on the Gregory show. Rachael is so above Joe and it really must get to him that she is so much smarter than he. (She is a Rhodes Scholar) What an egotist. sWhy MSNBC keep these two guys on board isbeyond me. Please make a change MSNBC!

Joe Scarborough's a narcissistic personality disorder. It's one thing for him as a Republican to give McCain a pass on Hagee. It's quite another to completely ignore Hillary's relationship with Douglas Coe and her involvement with The Fellowship. But if Scarborough explored it, he'd be risking the only job he's got left. He's already skating on thin ice at MSNBC, with how he treats the women talent (Mika Zbigniew and Rachel Maddow).

This is what Kathryn Joyce and Jeff Sharlet reported for The Nation about Hillary Clinton, Douglas Coe and The Fellowship: http://www.motherjones.com/cgi-bin/print_article.pl?url=http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2007/09/hillarys-prayer.html

Not surprisingly, CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network/700 Club) has a different reaction to Clinton's membership with what many people call a cult: http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/224908.aspx

It certainly helps explain Richard Mellon Scaife's 360 degree turnaround on Clinton.

At best, Clinton is playing the ultra-right-wing of the Republican party for fools, but the question remains, "How can the media question Obama's religious commitment and sincerity and not Clinton's"

At worst, she's drunk the Kool-Aid, has never stopped being a Republican at heart ("a Goldwater girl"), and is playing voters in the Democratic Party for fools.

LIKE ALL NARCISSISTS,
SCARRED
GOES NUTS WHEN HE IS CHALLENGED AND REFUTED;
ESPECIALLY BY A WOMAN.
I'M SURE HE IS PHYSICALLY VIOLENT BEHIND THE SCENES.
PS
CHECK OUT WHY AND HOW HE LEFT THE CONGRESS.

PAT PUKE-CHANAN IS SUCH A HATER
THAT HE COST THE GOP THE PRESIDENCY
WHEN HE DELIVERED HIS FAMOUS
ANTI-GAY SPEECH
AT THE GOP CONVENTION.
AS A HISTORIAN,
I'M SURE HE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE BEEN
ONE OF THE GRAND WIZARDS
AT THE SPANISH INQUISITION.

Barack Obama has received his baptism of political firestorm and scandal.....Go figure. It's a right of political passage. Who doesn't have a complicated relationship in their own lives? We all do. However, it's not a little boy, girl, or 12 year affair.....Wasn't Bill Clinton caught on tape talking to Jennifer Flowers? We elected them anyway!

This is much bigger than Barack Obama. I seriously believe that the media is holding Barack's feet to the fire to intimidate the grass roots movement. With this vicious climate, how many folks will muster the courage to run for city council in their own town without having emerged from a freaking cloister?

I love Keith, what are you talking.

Sean Hannity = Joe SARBOROUGH they look like twins (Porcupine Termites)

In all seriousness how can anyone watch this show? Mika and Joe are too comfortable with one another and aren"t they both married.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:51 PM on 04/30/2008

At first I used to pity Mika. All she does on the show is babysit Joe and try and calm him from his pathetic temper tantrums. But now she just giggles and acts like a brainless idiot while Joe Scarborough totally takes the piss out of her daily.

It's no wonder Joe walked off of Race for the White House when he threw down with Rachel Maddow. He isn't used to tough women who actually have a brain and an opinion and the assertiveness to step up and talk back to him. He is almost always wrong, and yet people let him talk and have his own show. It's the fate of failed politicians. Both Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough would know.

Scarborough, Matthews = jerks. Matthews said on Morning Joe ""¦seeing the Pope just reminds you of what the church means," "Catholics did not leave their church because it's so big."
Scarborough, Matthews, every journalist and catholic in politics must be asked "why they are still members of the Catholic Church," while the Pope insists on calling the church's covering up pedophilia "the American problem?" Yet, pedophilia by catholic priests is documented worldwide.
No way Rev. Wright"s comments worse than an institution that protects pedophilia priests and, calls the depravation, "the American problem," while ignoring the problem in other countries.
Teens from polygamist sects called "lost boys" feel the abuse they endured is worse than all of the angry words of Wright. Meanwhile, child brides suffer rape without any of the outrage that has surrounded Wright.
Which is worse; the ranting of Wright or, the scarred lives of children harmed by adults who are sheltered by religious institutions?
McCain's MSM buddies are not calling McCain out as the hypocrite he is, and don"t air nonstop comments made by Hagee and other "agents of intolerance."
McCain's MSM buddies sold America lies about the war, don't care that McCain will continue Bush/Cheney policies; their sons and daughters are not fighting in the war and their standard of living is not being affected by the economy.
McCain"s buddies in the MSM would rather have another incompetent "good ole boy" in the White House rather than Clinton or Obama.

Joe Scarborough is a pompous and despicable piece of garbage, who believes that he, with his great wisdom, and the collusion of the shrill, irritating, hate-baiting Nancy Grace wannabe, Mika Brzezinski, can beat the spirit of Obama to the ground. I have blocked MSNBC on all televisions in our home. These people are the worst kind of corporate shills.

Joe's whole morning show is based on bashing Obama. I expect this of him. He's not talented enough to do anything else. He's a failed politician and now speaks as if he knows all and Mika better toe the rectoric he's spinning. He doesn't have any regard for Mika or Willie either. He''s such a prick. Can't stand his hypocrital, privilaged depraved self righteous ass. MSNBC has allowed this boob to stir up alot of hate. Hope Obama gets elected. Can't wait to see Joe loose it and his job.

I've stopped watching cable news, (except countdown with Keith Olberman) and will not return to watching until the primary is over and Obama can start his general campaign. In the morning I now watch the weather station and listen to the radio. Between Scarbrough and Pat Buchanan, I can find a better way to start my day!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:09 PM on 04/30/2008

Olbermann is the biggest disgrace in NBC family of networks. He has no credibility since he is clearly a mouthpiece for the Obama campaign. Olbermann is unwatchable.
Over at CNBC they roll their eyes on Obama who they regard as a danger to the economy.

lol countdown is biased, your as bad as the repugs lol Keith is obama central. He is a pathetic joke

Can I just say that with the exception of Olbermann I have totally stopped watching MSNBC. I couldn't take it anymore. Scarborough is a complete nightmare. I'm still amazed that he has a show or that Huffington Post gives him exposure. After the ABC "debate" I made the decision to stop watching cable news and you would be surprised at just how many good places there are to get information. I think my life expectancy went back to what it was supposed to be.

I have always been a news junkie. I watched everything on Watergate and the Nixon impeachment to all of Bill Clinton's problems and Clearance Thomas confirmation. Now I have just had it.

Now I watch Olbermann and Steven Colbert. first makes some sort of weird sense of things and the second shows just how stupid things are. For years we had half way decent news coverage then someone had the bright idea that the news needed to make money and compete with the reality shows for ratings. You have idiots making 7 figures pretending they know what people want to hear and all they do is give you a bunch of stupid bull shit opinions. They were all duped by the Retired Military analyst serving the Pentagon talking points but they don't want to talk about that.

I am so ready for December that I wish it were tomorrow.

For Christ's sake, enough about Reverend Wright! It's sickening how much attention has been devoted to this. Imagine if Obama himself actually did anything wrong, instead of merely being tarred with guilt by association. Can we please move on to real issues, like the pros and cons of the gas tax holiday Clinton and McCain are proposing?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:12 PM on 04/30/2008

Special thanks to CNN, Fox News, especially Hannity, Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan, Laura Ingraham, Flush Limbaugh, and the gang for running the Rev. Wright story totally in the ground. Now that the whole Wright issue has been settled, all superdelegates can now come to Obama's side without fear that the Wright ordeal will be an issue in the GE. When the GOP brings it up in the general....it will be old news. THANKS MEDIA ! (can you say.....back-fired!)

I think Obama has answered enough questions about Wright and should tell the idiots like JS that there will be no more discussions on it, period. As long as Obama or his campaign staff give any answer the msm is going to keep harping on this. Just point blank tell the idiots "we're done discussing this, either ask a relevant question or this interview is over."
