WASHINGTON — The number of newly laid off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits soared last week.

The Labor Department reported Thursday that claims for unemployment benefits rose by 35,000 to 380,000. Private economists had expected claims would rise by a smaller 18,000.

The report on jobless claims came a day ahead of a report on unemployment for April. Economists expect that report will show that the unemployment rate edged up to 5.2 percent in April, from 5.1 percent in March. The economy is expected to lose 70,000 jobs, the fourth straight month of job losses.

So, the total greed of big business parasites and how abusive employers is finally hitting home. You spent years laughing at businesses that abuse lower class employees. Giggled at the super stores who work people to death. Snickered at construction workers who lost their job to illegal aliens.

GOOD, welcome to the party PAL.

Now you know what its like

Big Business has destroyed our workers, our country and economy and now you too can feel the effect.

Big Business greed thrives on abusing workers, once they got done with joe six pack and sally house coat....did you think they'd stop ?? Nope ..... Its now middle and upper management

Don't worry though Theres lots of jobs for you upper people....it will just be someone younger, smarter and not you.

Oh, yeah your over qualified for all the jobs you laughed at last year.

Written by Jack Bernstein back in 1985...

http://www.jackbernstein.org/

As the collapse of Israel draws near, one of two courses of action by the New York/Moscow/Tel Aviv Triangle is likely to be taken:

1. Israel could trigger a large scale Mideast war, a large war which Israel could not win alone. Then the New York leg of the New York/Moscow/Tel Aviv Triangle would use its influence on the U.S. Government to send U.S. military forces to aid Israel.

----------

At some point during the war, when the U.S. military is deeply involved and the U.S. citizens demoralized, the Zionist oriented Jewish International Bankers will make their move. Evidence leads to the conclusion that it is these bankers who own the Class A Stock of the U.S. Federal Reserve, America's central bank. In this position of power, these Zionist bankers, can, and likely will, trigger an economic collapse in America " like they did in 1929 when they caused the stock market crash and started the severe depression of the 1930's.

Am I missing something? "claims for unemployment benefits rose by 35,000 to 380,000". That means the number of claims went from 345,000 to 380,000 -- a 10% increase, not the 68% indicated in the headline. Is the huffpo headline writer a product of our fine public education system? No wonder we're losing jobs. Heck, I'd hire the Chinese and Indians instead of the many lazy, illiterate, mathematically-challenged miscreants that our union-dominated education system is pumping out these days.

Maybe, just maybe, the writer was trying to indicate that the 35,000 job losses in April were 68% higher than the 23,500 job losses in March.

Given that job losses decreased in April, methinks you're wrong. Good try and thanks for playing. However, you're lucky to have a government job -- turns out you can't be fired.

Given the fact that the American population kicks in 122,000 new would-be workers a month into the job market - stemming from population growth - these new job loss figures are extra grim.

I do not know what demographic group from which you hale but, you should also realize that there is a 14% jobless rate with men between the ages of 30 and 55 - regardless of race. Unlike the western European countries whose unemployment statistics include the jobless (folks unemployed for more than 6 months), the US Government treats these figures separately. Corporate media also chooses to not report these numbers.

If you did indeed have public school teachers who were represented by a Union, good for you. If you feel that we should be living in a Plutocracy (go ahead, look that word up), you should think seriously about the future of your nieces and nephews.

I work with a bunch of conservatives who claim that if the Dems ran things, it would be worse.

I tell them a joke:
A guy gets a fortune cookie that says, "Today is your lucky day"
He goes back to work, where he finds out he's fired.
He goes home, to find his wife has clean out the house and left him.
Stunned he heads for the neighborhood bar, but is hit by a truck.

In the ambulance, they hear him say, "Can you imagine if it WASN'T my lucky day?"

Bush winning was the GOP's lucky day.

Homeowbership at an all time high????

You can't take reports of increases of homeownership serious until they have owned the homes 5 years.
Many many people lose their homes or divorce within the first 3 years of homeownership. Layoff and financial problems and debt catch another 27 % in the next 2 years aftr that.

How many dod you deduct since 790,000 + have lost the homes and beed foreclose on since 2006!!!!

Yet the Democrats will not extend much needed unemployment benefits.

What good are they?

Don't hear much from H and O about the issue either.

The unemployment rate is still hovering around 5%. Politicians and economists used to cum all over themselves when the numbers were that low. Get some perspective.

The new and improved numbers are brought to you by the Ministry of Lying Statistics.

In "cum-laden" years' base, the rate is at least double (conservatively) these days.

These can be known as the shitting-all-over-themselves years.

Do I hear the mournful sound, of a time, an era I have been.
Of the freight train whistle across this nation once again ?
Moving sad and anxious Box Car Johnies, to places they have never been.
Searching for work of any kind,
To feed those families left so far behind.
Tomorrow it may be your turn.
When you find you no longer have a dime
Brothers it is our duty, to these poor souls be kind.
If we all pull together, things will be OK in time.

My office laid off 10 to 15% of its work force this week. We are multi-disciplinary architectural firms (architects, urban designers, engineers and interior designers). Our main office had 170 people, and we have two other satellite offices (California and Arizona) with 36 and 12. We laid off about 15 people in our main office and then another 15 between our out of state offices.

We then won two huge projects. We cleaned house more then downsized. BUT, in the city I live, if you"re an out of work architect, you will have a very hard time finding a job right now. We do much work out of the country. Ironically enough, the large project we did win was in the US. The trends in unemployment are worrisome to say the least. I am very thankful that I am employed right now by a smart and good company.

I bet you will be designing a lot of new apartment building with hundreds of occupants soon as prices force people to move into the cities and the cities to provide public transportation for the masses.

Alanta has had plans for many years for a city with no cars and electric buses.

All deliverys are made on the outskirts of town.

This is incredible. And think about the numbers who don't bother to sign up for unemployment. The numbers they give us on unemployment are always much lower than reality.

(Private economists had expected claims would rise by a smaller 18,000) Obviously private economists are not keeping track of all of the layoffs that are happening across the country or watching the news or reading any news.
Now we know why we are so screwed right now, the people that are suppose to know something about the economy do not know how to read and do not pay attention when they should.

It also doesn't count for those who have been forced to retire when their technical positions were outsourced to cheaper labor markets, or replaced here by the H1B Visa workers.

Note that people talk about the dropout rates in our schools, and wonder why it is so high. Between the threat of killings on the campus and the lack of jobs if they were to graduate, it is safe to assume that they feel lost!

We need to get our jobs back to this country, and back in the hands of our citizens!
