Sen. Barack Obama's ties to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright could hurt his presidential hopes. So could his comment about "bitter" small-town America clinging to guns and religion. And Americans might question Sen. Hillary Clinton's honesty and trustworthiness.

But according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, the bigger problem appears to be John McCain's ties to President Bush.

This election is about Obama vs George Bush III. McCain is irrelevent because any old cadaver could fill the spot. Obama will take the Democrats, sane Republicans who are mad and ashamed at what Bush and his ilk have done, and the independents. If you consider that the last two presidential elections were roughly 50/50, an overall 70% negative for Bush means that at least 40% of his own party is against him. Those people will be prime to vote for Obama.

Bush's ratings are now 30% favorable for his war, his economy and his overall popularity and 70% unfavorable in each category. Even Clinton when he left office had a favorable rating on nearly 70%. It is clear that whatever duped the American people in placing this bumpkin into office, he has now become a problem of immense proportions due to his failed policies and programs, incompetency, judgment, criminal negligence and corruption. His "compassionate conservatism" has transformed into fascism--a dictatorship of the extreme right through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism.

It makes sense when you consider that Haggard, and Hagee are still Republican spiritual advisers to GW and McCain.

Bush and McCain are both republicans...that is about as far as it goes. They differ on MANY issues. This trying to tie McCain and Bush like long time buddies that share the same philosophy is just not true. They have butted heads ALOT through the years...as McCain has with many other republicans.

Obama on the other hand was a member of Wright's church and called him several times his spiritual advisor and mentor. There is a huge difference in the 2 relationships. Obama after 2 months is finally denouncing Wright.....why now?? Maybe for political reasons??

You're absolutely right toby25! There is a huge difference between the two: Wright is irrelevant to Obama and will have absolutely no bearing on the way Obama will run the country. And McCain will continue Bush's legacy of destroying the US with an idiotic Iraq policy and the continued plundering of US treasury. Two little peas in a pod!

McCain will continue every Bush policy, war, taxes, everyone. He is being run by the same right wing group that brought GW Bush onto the world. Barbara Bush has repented, they have not.

Just the fact that a popularity comparison between Bush and Wright is possible in the media is proof that the media is completely worthless and controlled by an agenda...and it is certainly not "liberal" in nature. Bush -the man who has actually destroyed our nation in less than two terms and invaded a nation resulting in the murder of thousands of people- compares with Wright how? Wright has a big mouth and an ego to match...as Cheney would say "So?" Not one word out of Wright's mouth has had a direct effect on my quality of life - or ever will. Every word and action of Bush has had a negative impact on my life, and the negative effects will no doubt be experienced through the remainder of my life. I despise the media as much as I despise Bush, because the mainstream media has been the petri dish that has grown this Bush disease and then released it upon this nation.

In a democracy, every four years - the VOTERS get to ask questions. IF we can get the media to ask our questions for us - we are better informed as voters.

I still have questions for Obama. I want them answered. This MOVE ON suggestion is not right. This is American voters time.

Obama would look better to me if he just said he would answer our questions whenever and whereever he has to because he trusts us. Obama trying to shut down the conversation and not wanting any more debates and saying he has answered enough and acting like he is above us is not going to work.

The only difference between a dictatorship and a democracy is that the person with the power of the Presidency has to come to the American people every four years and answer our questions.

Does Obama want a dictatorship where he just gets to give us those big speeches and all we can do is listen? You know - like in church?

The Clintons former pastor was sentenced Friday to THREE YEARS IN PRISON for inappropriately touching a 7yr old in his home last March by judge Micheal Dwyer.
Accountable by Association ??

Why is Hillary pastor getting a pass. Why isn"t this story in the news?

THERE IS CLEARLY A DOUBLE STANDARD HERE or are we saying child molestation is OK in America, just like we don't ask Catholics to denounce, reject the Pope who has shielded and harbored their thousands of priest who have molested tens of thousands of young children.

What's wrong with our thinking, There is something fundamentally wrong with this picture.

Wright has more intellect and is much more eloquent than the dolt in the White House. Bush's news conference the other day with the White House Press Corps was a shambles in communication. His lack of skill and bumbling manner highlighted the conference. Bush never had the intellect or talent to occupy the highest office in the land. He is a total embarrassment . For the most part Wright's comments and views are on target as they relate to the problems and issues facing this nation.

Yeah, but he has a higher IQ than John Kerry, and got better grades in college than Al Gore.

They probably ended up in the warped thinking file. Bush had the advantage of birth into wealth, private school and university "education", sponsorship into business ventures doing whatever the hell he does, proving that once an ignoramus, always an ignoramus. The misery created by the "smartest man running" at home and abroad makes his administration singularly noteworthy as the worst in our history for its incompetency, corruption, divisiveness, malfeasance and misfeasance. If ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise.

"Bush had the advantage of birth into wealth, private school and university "education", sponsorship into business ventures doing whatever the hell he does"

Exactly how does that differ from any of the candidates he ran against? And how does that differ from any of the candidates that are currently running?

Nixon left office in shame, but was memorialized as a great leader. Reagan was called stupid, and a puppet, and almost everything else that the current Administration deals with, yet today he is remembered as on of the Greatest Presidents ever, by those on both sides of the aisle.

There was only one candidate who left office with a lower popularity rating than the current occupant: Harry S. Truman.

Trust me: history will be much kinder to the man, than we were.

Hypocrits in the MSM won't ask: "why do Vatican officials and the Pope call the catholic pedophilia priest problem, "the American problem"? and "why is the Pope sheltering Bernard Law?". While refusing to acknowledge worldwide cases of pedophilia priests within the Catholic Church.
Every catholic in politics and journalisim must be asked "why are they still members of the Catholic Church; as the Catholic Church continues to shelter pedophiles?"
Are Wright"s comments worse than an institution that shields pedophilia priests and, calls the depravation, "the American problem?"
Teens from polygamist sects called "lost boys" know the abuse they endured is worse than all of Wright's angry words. Meanwhile, child brides suffer rape without any of the outrage that has surrounded Wright.
Wat's worse; the ranting of Wright, or the scarred lives of children harmed by adults who are sheltered by religious institutions?
MSM has not called McCain out as the hypocrite he is, and won"t air nonstop comments made by Hagee and other "agents of intolerance." Yet, MSM feigns outrage at the ranting of a bitter old man.
McCain's MSM buddies sold America lies about Iraq and don't care McCain will continue Bush/Cheney policies; MSM's sons and daughters are not fighting in the war and their standard of living is not being affected by the economy. McCain's MSM buddies want Americans to be distracted, so creepy Wright becomes more important than widespred pedophilia within the Catholic Church, the economy and troops dying in Iraq.

Please check out "The Truth vs Barack Obama"

http://savagepolitics.com/?p=317

I saw this today, and HAD to share it with everyone. It is just a brilliantly researched and written list of inconsistencies with several of Obama's stories. I think it should be done for ALL three candidates, but I guess this is a good way to start at finally looking at the candidates with some honesty.

Thank you here is just one from it'
"I don"t have "bundlers" and I don"t take PAC money."

EVIDENCE - Senator Obama has 79 bundlers and has collected over $13,000,000 in lobbyist PAC money. SOURCE 1, SOURCE 2, SOURCE 3, SOURCE 4

COUNTER CLAIM - Senator Obama has been careful not to compromise himself, "rejecting campaign support from Political Action Committees and lobbyists."

REBUTTAL " Here is a starter list of Senator Obama"s registered lobbyists:

Timothy Broas $100,000, Frank Clark $200,000, Howard Gutman $200,000, Scott Harris (DC) $200,000, Allan Katz $200,000, William Lake (DC) $50,000, Robert S. Litt $not given, Kenneth Lore (DC) $50,000, Thomas Perrelli $200,000, Thomas Reed $200,000, Paul Roth $50,000, Alan Solomont $100,000, Robert M. Sussman (DC) $50,000, Tom Wheeler (DC) $100,000. $1,700,000 dollars from these registered lobbyists, or four times more than Obama"s officially declared lobbyist sum. To date there are at least 38 such individual lobbyists donating to Senator Obama"s campaign. PS " Having the wives of these individuals write the checks does not alter where the money came from.

VERDICT " SENATOR OBAMA, YOU ARE A LIAR
