Seven former Democratic National Committee chairs who support Hillary Clinton's presidential bid, and the family of one who is deceased, released a letter Friday arguing that she is the candidate best-equipped to beat John McCain in November.

The letter was signed by former party leaders Kenneth Curtis, Charles Manatt, Debra DeLee, Don Fowler, Steve Grossman, Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell, and Clinton adviser Terry McAuliffe. It was also signed by the family of the late Ron Brown, who served in the Clinton administration.

Los Angeles Judge Saves Hillary's 2008 Presidential Bid

In the landmark civil fraud case against Bill Clinton in Los Angeles, where the former President is charged with defrauding a Hollywood dot com millionaire to help Hillary Clinton obtain more than $1.2 million from him for her 2000 Senate campaign, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz ruled on Friday, April 25, 2008 that Hillary Clinton would not be required to testify in a sworn deposition as a material witness in the case until AFTER the November election!

Hopefully the MSM will keep the american people informed about this case. Just as they did with Rezko.
I would hate for the nominee to win the general and start their administration in the middle of a scandal on day one!

Kerry & Kennedy pushed Obama into running before he was ready.

This is a mess.

This is dumb as rocks logic. Have the DNC nobodies been reading Hillary's script and putting their names on petitions again? Apparently he is ready and winning. Clinton maybe overdone..and too much seasoning in the political gutter. TO HILLARY: Hillary go home, enjoy those millions for which you and Bill are peddling influence. You two have been on the public dole for darn near 30 years..homes, chauffeurs, state trooper or secret service protection, food, gas, airplanes, travel, medical, dental, office expenses, Living is good at the top and the sense of entitlement creeps in easily. Go home and bake some cookies, you might find it relaxing.

What a joke. These Clinton sycophants just don't give up, do they? What on God's Earth makes them think Hillary can beat McCain? Don't they know that Rush Limbaugh and other Republicans are agitating against Obama, using Hillary, so they can bring him down and run McCain against Hillary?

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during their strategy meetings, outdoing each other on which lunatic statements they can make.

They must really think the remaining uncommitted superdelegates must be as stupid, blind and out of touch as they are.

Well i would hope her supporters believe she could win.
If they didn't there would be a problem

I'm really surprised to see that Hillary has the support of 7 past DNC chairs, the way the news has been reporting on Obama's it sounded like he has that support locked up. I'm glad to see that these DNC chairs aren't taking it sitting down (heh pun).

So, her supporters think she'll win. OMG what a shock.

The proverbial yellow dog could beat McCain. McCain has shit the bed so many times in this and no one is calling him on it because the Democratic candidates are too busy warring with each other. Once this nonsense is over, Obama will be able to concentrate his campaign against McCain. Then it's all over but the hummin'. McCain goes down big time.

I agree. TODAY Clinton would defeat John McCain. But do we really think by November Clinton will be treated by the GOP the same way she's been treated by them so far in this primary? Don't you know the Republicans WANT her to be the nominee. This Clinton-is-more-electable train of thought is exactly what the Republicans are praying for. This is why they've been attacking Obama in NC. This is why Rush Limbaugh has called on his robots to vote for her in the primary. This is why they are practically mum when a Clinton controversy erupts, yet fire on all cylinders when it's about Obama.

Yes, TODAY Hillary Clinton would beat McCain. But the election isn't TODAY.

Well, there were many days, many more, that Obama could have said the same thing about Clinton but he chose not to.

The only reason Obama is not hitting Clinton square in the mouth is because he is afraid of offending female voters which in turn will make the party healing a much harder process.

Clinton has lost and she knows it that is why the is a lot of fireworks and side shows and RIDICULOUS SCENERIOS or WHAT IFS. Hillary: If we were Republicans, I would be ahead. I am ahead by electoral votes--yea but Obama will win CA, NY,NJ, anyways. I am ahead in the popular vote but I am counting Michigan and giving Obama a ZERO OUT OF MICHIGAN because not a singel person would vote for him? JUST RIDICULOUS.

So these Democratic faithful are trying to undercut the frontrunner and likely nominee? Pretty pathetic. What are they going to do when Obama is officially the nominee? They are attempting to manufacture baggage for Obama. What a pathetic bunch.

I believe she can beat McCain today but I also believe she cannot beat in November when Republicans start looking into her baggages.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:45 AM on 05/03/2008

The Repubs know her baggage. Independents and what all ever else is out there know her baggage. It's Obama's baggage, except for Rev Wright, we don't know about. If he's nominated, they'll open the baggage like a grouchy TSA agent and throw the contents everywhere. I think that's why so many conservative Dems, progressive Repubs and Indies actually prefer Clinton, and at this point would vote for McCain over Obama. You can bet the Repubs will come up with lots worse than Rev Wright if Obama is the nominee.

"I think that's why so many conservative Dems, progressive Repubs and Indies actually prefer Clinton"

1. The Vichy dems like her because she's DLC to the core

2. There ARE no 'progressive' republicans.

3. Independants, as a rule, do not like like Mrs Clinton and prefer Obama

4. The notion that Obama hasn't been vetted by the oppo research people yet is absurd. The DLC and the GOP have been after his ass for months now dishing up what little dirt they could find; It's been disgusting to watch. Besides, everyone knows that when the GOP can't find anything they make shit up. As do the Clintonistas, come to think of it.

Someone the other day posted a link to a site showing the purchase of the Obama's house was done by a "trust" and they gave the number. Upon further investigation, this guy found that another "trust" by the same name and number had made several other questionable purchases of different properties, but that the Obama's tax returns did not list any of these purchases. According to the article, they were all purchased by the same trust, and he even listed an I.D. number that matched the one linked to the Obamas' house. He said that McCain has all of the necessary information, and if Obama gets the nod, it will be released sometime before the General Election. This will just be the first of many pounds of baggage I'm sure will come out. Who knows what else is there for the finding.

Exactly, the other shoe will drop and Obama will implode. I just hope it's before the DNC. Why is it that Obama has lawyers attending the Rezko trial in Chicago. What's he worried about? And where are the media on this? Huff would rather sensantionalize Obama's two former DNC chairman and ignore Hillary's seven. Where it the truth?!

Pleasssssssssse. Lay this old canard to rest. McCain is the gift which keeps on giving. We may not even have to get into McCain's baggage since we will find it hard to even keep up with his daily dose of "misspeaks". Instead of trying to raise your candidate by tearing down the other guy, why don't you try and enlighten us by extolling some of your candidates virtues. Oh, I forgot, she doesn't have any.

This is the same crew of fools who tried to stack the deck and write the primary rules to give Hillary the inside track to the nomination. You fools failed. And if you think anybody doesn't think you're all just a bunch of Clinton cronies then you're all insane. I've seen more polls that show Obama doing better against McCain then Hillary doing better. Some of the other chumps who want Hillary to get the nomination include Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulture, and Richard Mellonscaith (the right wing lunatic who accused the Clintons of being being murders back in the 90s). Does anybody seriously think Hillary would do better with Independents and cross-over Republicans then Obama?? Hillary's has a 53% of nationwide Democrats who view her unfavorably. About the same number of Dems think she is untrustworthy. That's amongst polled Democrats! These DNC chair members need to get off the meth...

But, but, but... how comes she can't beat Obama in delegates and is virtually broke while he is flush with money despite outspending her two to one?

Or are we talking about Senator Clinton running for the Republican vote now while losing much of the Democratic vote? Now that would make sense.

Is CNN blowing smoke by referring to chairs of DNC subcommittees as former DNC chairs?
According to an earlier Huff post ABC Notes reports"

For those keeping score, The Hotline notes that of the 11 living Democratic National Committee chairs between 1981 and 2005, six have endorsed Sen. Barack Obama and four have backed Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Only former Colorado Gov. Gov. Roy Romer has remained neutral.

Is this CNNs way to distract from the impact of former DNC chairs Joe Andrew and Paul Kirk endorsing Obama yesterday and today?

"Is this CNNs way to distract from the impact of former DNC chairs Joe Andrew and Paul Kirk endorsing Obama yesterday and today?"

I imagine that CNN is simply repeating Mrs Clintons Talking Points . It's fairly clear that this was released in response to the defections of Kirk and Andrew.
And how pathetic is it to include Ron Brown's family on this bogus bit of insubstantiated and dishonest scare mongering? Damn the Clintonistas are apparently incapable of shame.

If the Brown family didn't sign the letter, it is up to them to come out and say so. Interesting thing is, part of the whole "Clintons killed everybody" group says Bill had Ron Brown killed. Guess the Brown family must not believe that, huh.

Oh my well if Ed and Terry says it's so then it must be so, good God these people will stoop so low they cannot see up in order to seat Queen Clinton. Wonder how many backroom deals they made, let's see which posts would Ed and Terry want? Hum, you know if it looks like a pig, and grunts like a pig, then in their eyes it must be a cow! Sorry but you can take your letter and stick it, the sain people will be voting for the only candiate with class and who hasn't yet been bought off, and that would be OBAMA.

Yeah right they prefer to run agains the person who is complete OPPOSITE Of McCain over the person who id just like McCain yeppers that make sense. They are just telling themselves that because THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE GETTING. They know it thats why they've totally IGNORED Hilary after it became clear she can't catch Obama. THey know the democratic party would not go against the will of the people so they are now using reverse Psychology saying Oh we think Obama is easier they are NOT fooling anyone. Obama is too smart for them and they've yet to define him consistently he's a marxist, a muslim, secret terrorist,. NONE Of which has any basis in reality. HIlary is 60 years old and thats sixty years of lies and deceits they have plenty to work with.

SO thats just the GOP way of admitting what reality is and trying to convince themselves well Obama is who we wanted all along not because its true but because its who they are getting.

Do these former DNC chairs really believe that Hillary Clinton can take the kitchen sink being thrown at her by the Republicans and get elected? With all the ammo they will have to use? The only reason she has survived this long is because Obama is trying to run a more positive campaign.

Maybe this explains why those former DNC chairs were so unsuccessful in getting a Dem into the White House. Definitely out of touch with reality.

Bayh memo bashing Clinton re:Magnequench hits papers tommorow!

Earlier on Hardball Tweety talked to "folks on the ground" from Indiana and NC, one each, as it turns out. I am a little shady on the details, due to my habit of reading this blog while Hardball is on, but I think the guy from Indiana was a reporter from a major Indiana Paper.

What he told Chris down below.

Update [2008-5-2 20:32:10 by PLS]: Kind commenter's have set me straight. The guy from NC was the reporter. The guy from Indiana is Howey, of the Howey Politics Indiana; Daily briefings on Indiana politics blog.

Chris asked about the state of the race and Howey said "It's still very fluid." He talked about Barack's early lead in Feb. and the tightening of the polls since, whether it's due to the Rev., or the "gas" pander. Then he threw the bombshell. He stated that a memo from Evan Bayh has surfaced in which Bayh blames the Clinton's for the closing of the Magnequench plant in Vapraiso, Indiana, and this memo is due to hit the presses tomorrow (and hopefully will change the fucking conversation). Howey also set the stage by stating that Hillary had been campaigning 2 weeks ago on this plant closing, blaming it on Bush, and that this had been effective tactic for her.

Um, bullshit? Yeah, she does okay according to some polls (not all) in some swing states, while most polls have shown that she loses plenty of BLUE states to McCain. All the focus is on crap like PA and Florida, when she has been losing states like Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Iowa in polls to McCain. How can we hope to win if she can't even carry blue states?

Anyway, this is typical Hillary bullshit.

Look, I live in NY.. and there are so many people here who voted for Hillary Clinton, (white and black) that wish they could take their vote back. She is the senator here and there are many who wish she'd just go away. Obama would win in NY, NJ, CA, and probably other so called big states. Her argument is BS.
