Matt Lauer spent Day 5 of his "Where in the World is Matt Lauer?" tour in the tropical isles of The Seychelles. Not surprisingly, he's got the world wanting more. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Seychelle Islands have suddenly surged to the top of Google's most popular search terms.

Located in the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles are by no means convenient to get to, but the trip is well worth it. Here is Peter Greenberg's , Today's Travel Editor, take on the Seychelles' Islands:

No ocean looks quite like the Indian Ocean, and the sight of that magical green water is a wonderful and indelible memory. So is getting to the Republic of Seychelles. It's in the Indian Ocean, about 1,000 miles east of Kenya. The Seychelles is comprised of 115 islands, many of which have deserted beaches with untouched sand -- sand that is fine and white like talcum powder.

Already dreaming of Pina Coladas on a deserted beach? Visit the official Seychelles Islands website for more on the islands and the details on planning your visit.

You can also check out Lonely Planet's guide to the Seychelles or this Seychelles-specific travel guide.

And lastly, here is Matt Lauer's tour of the Seychelle Islands, as premiered on the Today Show this morning.

Haven't been there, but talked to some Brits who visited there. They said they loved it.

The seychelles have always held a facination for me. I once read they were the spy center of the cold war. Their proximity to the middle, east, asia and africa made them the perfect listening post for both sides. The story went on to say that a hell of a lot of the few islanders were on one side's or the other's payroll making it truly an island of spies in the middle of the sea.

Another story was about a german programmer who killed another tourist in a bar fight. He was convicted of manslaughter and confined to the island for 15 years. Not confined to prison, he just couldn't leave the island for 15 years. In the article he said that even after serving several years that sentence was the best thing that ever happened to him in his life because the Seycelles are paradise.

Yet another story was about a bloodless coup in the 70's or 80's. The president at the time was sitting in his office when his chief rival showed up and they engaged in a heated argument. It ended with the president's rival ordering the president out of his own office and the president packed up and left.

The Sychelles are too civilized for the rest of the world it seems. It's been a fantasy of mine for decades to have gone there. If at all possible I'd go there for my duration.
