My Wish For 2007

I am finding it particularly difficult to choose which emotion to amplify as I reflect on the soon-to-expire 2006 and soon-to-arrive 2007. Is this the time to kvetch? ("Oye, what a mess we're in!") Or the moment to express gratitude? ("Thank goodness the seas haven't risen too high yet.") Or perhaps high hopes are in order? ("Maybe there is a way out of Iraq that won't result in genocide.") Or maybe just undiluted rage about [INSERT EXAMPLE OF NEEDLESS SUFFERING HERE]. Perhaps the best one can do in quite-extreme-and-probably-about-to-be-more-extreme times is to conclude that things seem pretty confusing, and that it may be more important than usual to allow ourselves to be afraid as we continue to struggle for equality, each in our own way.
