Ever since I got home from work today I've been excited for one thing and one thing only: President Obama's throwing of the ceremonial first pitch of the MLB All Star Game. Admittedly, this is a pretty lame thing to be excited about, but it's a Tuesday night and I have work tomorrow. Would Obama fire a strike a la George W. Bush here?
Would he flub? How would Barack "No Drama" Obama, a man who has held his cool in such pressure-packed situations as his entire presidential campaign including the Jeremiah Wright fiasco, a million debates with Hillary Clinton, speeches to tens of thousands in Berlin, an audition before the Muslim world in Cairo, and even basketball with the University of North Carolina basketball team do on the big stage in front of a television audience of millions at Busch Stadium in St. Lous?
We'll never know because Fox completely ruined the shot, instead showing a ridiculous camera angle that allowed us to see the president throw but not where the pitch ended up. Are you freaking kidding me? If the All Star Game was being broadcast on any network besides Fox I'd understand, but I bet they "screwed up" on purpose so as not to make the president look good. George Bush threw a rocket to home plate and I respected him for it. Obama, well, we'll never know. Good work Fox, you jerks.
