Our team at Funny or Die came up with this gem and I wanted to share. I like sharing... Do you? On second thought don't answer that.

Republican: New Wonder Drug Hits Market

Posted May 22, 2008 | 12:38 PM (EST)

Inspired by the news that the GOP's new 2008 slogan was the same one used for the anti-depressant Effexor, I made this video:

Vetting the Candidates: An American Tradition

Posted April 25, 2008 | 10:40 AM (EST)

America is a country that prides itself on being able to identify a "straight shooter" or "the genuine article" when it comes to our leaders. As a nation we can "feel it in our gut" when someone is giving us a bum steer. We have a free press ("Free press"...

Obama Cracks My TV in Half

Posted March 18, 2008 | 10:36 PM (EST)

It didn't make sense. A politician responding to a TV news scandal during an election and he's not on the attack or the defensive. Instead he's asking us to look at the forces that shape our feelings on race and understand them. My first reaction was to call DirecTV. Clearly...

Response to Tucker Carlson

Posted March 7, 2008 | 09:49 AM (EST)

Tucker Carlson said on his program last night that what I wrote in my Huff Post blog "Live From New York...Vote for Hillary!" was a "conspiracy theory." He claimed the idea that some Republicans are rooting for Hillary was "deranged."

First off, I didn't say all Republicans are...

Live from New York...Vote Hillary!

Posted March 5, 2008 | 11:58 PM (EST)

Let's face it, the Republicans love Hillary Clinton. They quietly in their heart of hearts pine for her to win the Democratic nomination. The Republican Governor of Florida is rolling out the red carpet for a second primary which will favor Clinton. Pat Buchanan can't be quiet about how much...

Patriotic Trash

Posted March 29, 2007 | 08:03 PM (EST)

Today I was watching CNN Headline News as I was eating lunch and saw a quick piece (everything's quick on Headline News. It's "Headline" News, not "Insightful Details" News) on the scandal over the firing of the eight federal prosecutors for not being loyal enough to the Bush agenda....

And Then There Were Thirty...

Posted January 31, 2007 | 06:03 PM (EST)

A Newsweek poll last week showed that Bush has fallen to a 30 percent job approval rating. I know there are a lot of polls out there so that number is far from definitive, but still I was shocked to hear this. Honestly, I hadn't been paying attention and...

Humble Suggestions for Reid and Pelosi

Posted November 9, 2006 | 11:07 AM (EST)

I'm out of practice dealing with good political news. It's been a bit of an overload these past two days. It's kind of like getting a letter from my doctor informing me that I can now suddenly windmill dunk a basketball. I almost hesitate to bring up the House and...

A Rebuttal to Mel

Posted August 2, 2006 | 06:50 PM (EST)

Amidst all of the understandable uproar over Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic statements while intoxicated during a DUI arrest this past week, I think one fact has been lost. Drunk or not drunk, the man was making an argument. In this day and age, where the argument has been so denigrated by...

Not Even the Joy of an "I Told You So"

Posted March 22, 2006 | 12:40 AM (EST)

"I told you so"s are way overrated. They feel good in the lead up but upon delivery you instantly realize there is still a huge amount of work to be done: "Ha! I told you this couch wouldn't fit through our apartment door after carrying it up four flights!" "Ohhh......

William Faulkner's "The Bear": the Dick Cheney Version

Posted February 15, 2006 | 01:50 PM (EST)

Boon was cold. He blew into his hands and looked around him at the strange men who were stomping their feet up and down to keep warm. They were here to kill the Bear, that he knew, but as he heard their dogs yap and bite at the air he...

State of the Union: a Love Song

Posted February 2, 2006 | 12:09 PM (EST)

This Tuesday's State of the Union was an old fashioned three chord love song. Education, alternative energy, health care, fighting terrorism, clearing government corruption. Unfortunately hearing George W Bush talk about education and cutting oil dependency comes off as sincere as hearing Mick Jagger sing about how he can't live...

False Patriotism

Posted January 30, 2006 | 08:40 PM (EST)

The other day a friend of mine e-mailed me this exchange he had with his cousin who served in Iraq. I thought it was worth posting. It's yet further evidence that if you want to know what these Republicans are all about, see what they accuse others of being --...

The Man in the Black Hat

Posted January 5, 2006 | 11:25 AM (EST)

Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty Tuesday to three felony counts of conspiracy, fraud and tax evasion. Or, as Republicans call it, "free speech." He did so and then left the courthouse wearing a hat that Snidely Whiplash would have called "too over the top bad guy." I should give Abramoff the...

Cheney Gets His Schwerve On

Posted December 21, 2005 | 04:50 PM (EST)

Dick Cheney was on a tear yesterday. He got the ball rolling by firing off the following quote defending the President's right to spy on Americans with no approval from any court. "I believe in a strong, robust executive authority and I think that the world we live in demands...

Bush Gives (VICTORY!!!) a Speech

Posted December 1, 2005 | 12:46 AM (EST)

For the past five years the Republicans have come up with a great and subtle way to underline the theme of a speech for the casual viewer. They put it in bold letters on the flat or banner behind the speaker. It’s a trick that’s been pointed out many times,...

Thanksgiving Thanks

Posted November 24, 2005 | 01:43 AM (EST)

It’s Thanksgiving and I am indeed thankful for many things. I am first and foremost thankful for whoever locked that door the President tried to open while escaping his press conference in Beijing the other day. It provided us with an "uber-metaphoric" moment for this White House and the bad...

Things to Get Used to in the Next Three Years

As the brackish poisonous flood waters finally recede under the aid of man-made pumps in New Orleans, many things are becoming clearer (note: this will be the most overused opening line for Op-Ed pieces in the next week. Let's count how many times we see it. The over-under is 28.)...
