So You Voted Early for Barack Obama - Now What?

05/25/2011 12:50 pm ET

Chicago--The start of early voting has began all over America is states like Nevada, Colorado and here in Illinois. In my home state of Chicago, Illinois the start of getting out the vote took place on Columbus Day and will last until Oct. 30. Phone banks, neighborhood walks -- state-wide drives have been the driving force for the Barack Obama campaign, to make sure you vote early and get family, friends and neighbors out there in record numbers. Why you ask? As I always suspected this could be the cause. Suppression of votes -- A form of Electoral fraud, where governmental power, i.e., a political campaign, finds a way to suppress the total amount of votes, or even worse - fear batting a voter to changes their minds -- to vote for the other candidate or not at all.

We've seen this form of behavioral in the "Jim Crow Law" where non-whites, mainly black Americans (before the Voters Rights Act of 1965) were given tests before they could vote, even though many could not read at the time because of the structure of the times, mainly in the south. In 2008, will history repeat itself?

Think about Americans who lost their homes, being misplaced, not being able to vote because their homes were washed away in a storm. A neighbor, not being able to vote because they lost their homes -- due to foreclosures, and they didn't have enough time to give a change of address. You don't think this could happen, voters on lists to remove them from the voter block?

Blocking the Vote

Tuesday, an interview from Rachael Maddow [see video below] on MSNBC with Robert Kennedy Jr. regarding "Block the Vote" where poor Americans, particularly Black, Hispanic and other minorities could be removed from power of voting -- the history debates continue to suppress votes to the voiceless. Remember Florida 2000?

So what can we do? I'm particularly talking to voters who have already cast their vote - I want you to think about helping others make their voice heard. Call family, friends, and neighbors and shout that they can vote early. Think about going to Iowa for Barack Obama, (If you live in Chicago) there are many bus and drive pools happening all around Chicagoland. If you can't make it to Iowa, Indiana or other states, the campaign is sponsoring -- join the phone bank movement and call voters in early polling states to vote early.
