Let's do it again. Richard.\" Then he printed the images on canvas. Last fall, he exhibited them at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gagosian.com\/exhibitions\/richard-prince--september-19-2014\" target=\"_hplink\">Gagosian Gallery<\/a>, where they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2015\/05\/welcome-to-frieze.html\" target=\"_hplink\">sold for $90,000 each.<\/a> \r\n\r\nHe took photos of Sky Ferreira, Pamela Anderson and porn stars, as well as Doe Deere, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.limecrime.com\/\" target=\"_hplink\">CEO of Lime Crime<\/a>. But because Prince edited the photos to include his own comments, the works count as original pieces of art. \r\n\r\nNot everybody agrees Prince's appropriation is artistically valid. <a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/audreywollen\/\" target=\"_hplink\">Los Angeles-based artist Audrey Wollen<\/a>, whose reinterpretation of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalgallery.org.uk\/paintings\/diego-velazquez-the-toilet-of-venus-the-rokeby-venus\" target=\"_hplink\">Diego Vel\u00e1zquez\u2019s \"The Rokeby Venus\"<\/a> was reprinted, told <a href=\"https:\/\/i-d.vice.com\/en_gb\/article\/richard-prince-audrey-wollen-and-the-sad-girl-theory\" target=\"_hplink\">i-D last fall that she was \"really angry\"<\/a> he'd taken her work. \r\n\r\n\"What Prince is doing is colonising and profiting off a territory of the internet that was created by a community of young girls,\" she told the outlet. \r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/news.artnet.com\/art-world\/richard-prince-sucks-136358\" target=\"_hplink\">A critic at ArtNet laid into Prince<\/a> after the Gagosian show too, writing that it had \"thin offerings for anyone who is in possession of a brain.\"\r\n\r\nSome artists, though, appreciate the exposure. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2015\/05\/20\/sex-doll-portraits-photos-stacy-leigh_n_7342880.html\" target=\"_hplink\">Stacy Leigh<\/a>, whose photo series of sex dolls was featured on The Huffington Post last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/1jX1DdhGug\/\" target=\"_hplink\">commented on Instagram<\/a> that Prince \"knows a good thing when he see's it\" [sic]. \r\n\r\nPrince had reposted one of her images on his Instagram, which has since been taken down. When another user asked if he printed her image for the exhibition, Leigh replied, \"I wish he would!!! I would be honored.\"\r\n\r\nMissy Suicide, the founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/suicidegirls.com\/\" target=\"_hplink\">pinup girl website Suicide Girls<\/a>, had a photo taken of the site's main Instagram account, as well as those of her models.  \r\n\r\n\"I\u2019m not holding a grudge,\u201d she told The Huffington Post. In fact, she noted that it seemed natural Prince was drawn to the <a href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/suicidegirls\/\" target=\"_hplink\">Suicide Girls, which has 3 million Instagram followers<\/a>. \u201cOur girls' portraits are the most compelling on Instagram, so of course he found ours,\" she said.   \r\n\r\nNor is she critical of his work. \u201cHe\u2019s starting a conversation about what we put out there in the public, and it\u2019s definitely an interesting conversation to start having,\" she said. Missy's just surprised people paid $90,000 for the images. \r\n\r\nTo bring his work down to a more affordable price point, Suicide Girls is turning the reproduction tables back on Prince by reproducing and selling their own <a href=\"https:\/\/suicidegirls.com\/girls\/ceres\/album\/2326046\/my-wcw-or-humancrusheveryday-goes-to-the-best-ever-missysuicide-and-the-whole-suicidegirls-te\/\" target=\"_hplink\">reproductions of his reproductions.<\/a> The profits will be donated to charity. \r\n\r\n\"We\u2019re just happy to make his art accessible to the kinds of people that he\u2019s featuring,\u201d she said.
