Behold, the McCain-Palin "Truth Squad!"

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Why is it that Republicans love to have these little names? I've posted previously about Alaska Congressman Don Young and his "A-Team," and "Wolf Pack" of lobbyists. For those of you who haven't been keeping up with the infamous congressman's latest silliness, the A-Team and the Wolf Pack are all the lobbyists that gain immediate and unfettered access to the congressman in his office in DC. These guys are Don's big guns. The A-Team was referred to as a separate group, but is also a subset of the Wolf Pack. So if you're on the A-Team, you're also by default in the Wolf Pack, but if you're in the Wolf Pack, you're not necessarily the stuff of the A-Team.

We're not only corrupt, we're silly.

And now, on the national front, we have the McCain-Palin "Truth Squad," a group of spunky Republicans put together based completely upon party affiliation, and mostly on ovary ownership, to dispel the myths that are circulating about the new VP pick, Sarah Palin. A couple of these myths arose from confusion about budget line items and reallocations that looked, at first, like Palin had slashed funding for special ed, and for homeless teen mothers. She didn't.

But other things on the list that attempt to make us feel better include talking about the fact that Palin didn't actually attempt to force public schools to teach creationism, but simply that she "wouldn't oppose" teaching creationism in public school.

And she didn't actually fire the librarian who wouldn't agree to ban books. She only tried to fire her. After public outcry, she agreed to let the librarian stay, even though she wasn't being 'supportive.' And the list of banned books that's been circulating? Bogus! We don't know which books Palin wanted the public librarian to pull from the shelves for content Palin found offensive.

And most of all, she was NOT officially a member of the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party, even though the Vice Chair said she was on video tape, (and called her out for infiltrating the Republican Party to get elected, while holding the AIP ideals). It was actually her husband that was a member of the secessionist group.

Don't you feel better now? Phew! I was worried for a minute, but after hearing from the Truth Squad, my mind is put at ease. It's fortunate that the Squad will be galloping across the land coming to the GOP's aid. "We're meeting it head on," said Brian Rogers, a campaign spokesperson. All right! (fist bump)

Oh, and they dared to accuse her pastor of being a Jew for Jesus. That guy was only invited to speak at her church by her pastor. And why should we care about her pastor, anyway. People shouldn't be condemned for the views of their pastors. We learned that from Obama and Rev. Wright. We need to focus on what Palin herself believes. She's just a normal sensible gal who thinks the world is 6000 years old, and that Jesus will come and rapture the faithful during her lifetime.
So knock it off, and quit with this fringe, liberal, left-wing nutty blogosphere over-reaction, will you? Sheesh.

So, now that you have the Truth, are you pumped, and ready to meet the 'Squad'?

They'll really be able to handle all those other nasty things people have been saying, head on!

I bet they'll dispel all those horrible claims about her stand on global warming, reproductive rights, troopergate, promoting people who talk nice on Fox News, getting paid to stay at home, intimidating staff, raising taxes, not properly funding troopers, her actual executive experience, her real position on the bridge to nowhere, the state of the small town where she was mayor, and being called the Queen of Earmarks! They're really gonna clear the air. Right guys??

Right, Squad?

Squad?

hello?

I got so fed up with this that I decided to start a new website: the REAL McCain/Palin Truth Squad available at http://palintruthsquad.org.

OH BABY!!! Rachel Maddow just reported that now Obama's got some friends calling themselves the ALASKA MYTHBUSTERS!!

http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iOxgjoYM2D7PHjG3ZUj6ycOahTqQ

I'm dyin'! I hope they cleared it with Adam & Jamie!! And I see the SHOW just did an Alaska special last spring! Maybe they can do an Election special. This just gets better.

I just had another thought about the big membership list. The first time I looked at it, I thought, OK, some friends, associates, who can speak up for her. Then I saw it was just all the high-ranking Repub women they could find. So now I wonder how many of them have even actually met her, and if so, was it at the convention, or when she was in DC lobbying for the bridge?

Sorry, but I beat them to it. I've been truth squading the exaggerations since I first heard them.

When it comes to the truth about Palin, there is no need to chase windmills, or should I say igloos?

I will continue to offer my perspective, although I'm fairly certain it's going up to the universe only. Many Democratic women are more like Pal than any other role models. We had kids, we had to juggle jobs, we may be married and thought it would be easy and learned otherwise. We have faced many, many times where the young MBA guy who was wet behind the ears got the promotion we THOUGHT we had earned. And then we were asked to train him. Why? Because he had a degree. We postponed our education to raise the kids, bring home the bacon, and then also cook it.

And then there was the obligatory divorce for 65% of us. And we didn't even have someone at the house to pretend to watch the kids while we ran the chores.

We are not impressed with his Harvard credential. We're impressed by men who actually make choices that are tangibly honoring women, not those who offer promises of equal pay.

We know the personal disappointment of going home after some jerk pulled just the same type of double entendre on us at the office.....and they always get by with it. Today, if you speak out.....they add a dollop of calling you a victim.

We know the Pelosi types. They are meaner than mean to any other woman. We know the academics. They live with 9 cats.

We have faith because she's learned what we know: Deliver. That's the only shot.

Are you really a woman?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:09 PM on 09/10/2008

So what you are saying is you support Palin as some odd method of revenge against women who have been and are currently oppressed? May I point out that this is a political race for the executive seat and we all should be voting based on the issues and which candidate will best solve them for us? Have you LOOKED at the record for who has done more to support women? While Palin MAY have a vagina, she has done less to support women's rights and equality than have Obama and Biden. McCain has done nothing. Nada. Zilch. Look it up. This is not a personality contest and you are clearly treating it as one. Did you support Hillary ONLY because she was a woman? I can only have reassurance in knowing that most women are far more mature and rational than you and will not become fodder for the insult McCain has hurled at them.

In their latest hubristic endeavor, Rove et al. assume they WILL cause the Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. By putting Palin on the ticket (the least qualified Republican governor with a ton of baggage), they would capitalize on three things: (1) protecting their base (because of her strong ideological mindset), (2) taking advantage of the female supporters of Hillary Clinton, and (3) garnering support of people who can't seem to bring themselves to vote for Obama (translated: won't vote for a black man). Some say "Obama should have picked Hillary" - Rove and Co. probably thought that out as well, for any other Obama-VP scenario, they probably had someone lined up. Consequently, Rove et al. sits back laughing at us because he's put a total dud within reach of the presidency, and we Democrats (along with the media) are having to take the high road with regard to properly vetting this woman (by not doing it fully, lest it appear sexist or whatever BS excuse they come up with this time). Bottom line: Karl Rove and his boys are not omnipotent, nor omniscient. They are humans just like the rest of us. While I don't condone violence, they do bleed like the rest of us. It's up to the Obama supporters (and people who won't vote for Obama but will not support the Republicans) to bring these guys down and show them that all the hubris in the world will never make them immortal.

It may be time to face the music, folks.

50% of Americans believe in creationism. 20% don't know the earth revolves around the sun.

Those Americans are having 4-10 babies each. Progressives are having 0-2 babies each.

If so many Americans already are Bible fundamentalists and are having many times the children we are, what's the landscape of this country going to look like 20 years from now?

Those Americans vote for the politicians that they think loves Jesus the most. That's ALL they care about. That was the Bush ticket and now it's the McCain/Palin ticket. Even if Obama somehow gets it, when all these little fundamentalists grow up into voting fundamentalists, we'll just be back where we started.

Unless we're all willing to start cranking out 15 kids each, which I doubt, what chance do we have?

This country will be the United States of Jesus Christ within our lifetime.

All us Buddhists, Catholics, Unitarians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, wiccans, and non fundamentalist Christians need to get our butts to Canada!

Wouldn't it be simpler to elect someone like Obama now, while we still can, and help him fix the educational system in this country? While I think it's immoral to contribute to the world's burden of overpopulation, I am hopeful that enough--and good enough--education can reverse your doomsday scenario, at least in this country.

All we need to do is stick to the issues, stick to the issues stick to the issues. They should be running an add for factcheck.org. There are a lot of idiots in the world. It is why there are so many people who still do not watch their kids around the pool, why so many still give out their personal information on the internet, it is why there are so many teen pregnancies in our schools and more to come if abstinence is the only thing taught in our schools. It is why I have to spend 45 minutes a day deleting e-mails trying to get my personal information, because there are a lot of idiots out there that answere these e-mails. I thought that women would be more inclined to vote issues, but I was wrong they are primarily voting gender. What a sad day this is.

The facts are that people will believe Cindy McCain when she said that Palin has foreign affairs credentials because she is Govenor of the state of Alaska that is on the border of Russia. No kidding, no fact checking needed on that one, I saw her say it in an interview. Just like I saw McCain's daughter say that no one else knows more about being a soldier or patriotic than him because of his record. I would venture to say, had he not graduated fifth from the bottom of his class, maybe, just maybe, he might not have crashed 5 airplanes. God help us all. and it better be the right God as well, because Change is Coming!!!!!!

"Unless we're all willing to start cranking out 15 kids each, which I doubt, what chance do we have?"

lets not take this drastic measure unless all else fails :) the hope is that the children they are cranking out will be smarter than they are. as i turned out smarter than my parents who tried to shove religion down my throat. i knew very early on that something was wrong with the story they were telling at church. it didnt make sense; and even at 9 years old when they showed me a film about hell, more graphic and violent than any R-rated movie in theaters today, and told me that if i didnt get saved and baptised i was going there, even as i was plunged into freezing water in a pond in the middle of winter, i felt like i was being bamboozled. turns out, i was. education is the key. simply put, the truth is bigger than the lie and the truth will out in the end. i wonder how many americans believed in creationism 50 years ago?

Can anyone tell me why Sarah Palin hid her pregnancy from her family? If she is so pro-life, even if she knew the baby would have Down's Syndrome, 7 months' worth of secret keeping sounds excessive........
there's more than meets the eye here!
