"If Gore were to, alternately, go for the gold and enter as a more than symbolic presidential candidate he would likely get trampled by the Clinton machine"

Do you have anything to back that up? I strongly disagree - Gore would have the near-unanimous backing of the Netroots, has polled extremely well when the poll asks the question correctly (IF GORE RUNS, who would you vote for in the Democratic primary?). The Michigan poll you cite as well as a NEW HAMPSHIRE poll both show Gore winning when asked this way.

I'll take an Oscar, Emmy, and Nobel over the Clinton machine any day of the week. You are VASTLY underestimating the support Gore has among party activists.

You are right....The first thing Hillary's Army would bring up is, 'Gore can't make up his mind' and they'd be right in saying that.

A Gore run would change the subject of this interminable election from personality to issues of substance and significance. Even if Gore were to fail to win the nomination it would be well worth his effort.

What? Personality would give way to substance? LOL! What have you been smoking?
Don't you see that Gore would indeed get trampled by the Clinton Machine, shredded by the Republican War Machine (polishing their knives in the background), and as a coup de grace The Media would skewer and then devour what's left of the poor guy.

I think Gore has enough smarts to avoid that maelstrom.

I like Gore, but even if he miraculously became president, he doesn't have the balls to do what must be done against the well oiled neofascist GOP noise machine.

Kucinich is a fighter and the most mainstream values candidate. If we get to the real issues, Kucinich would win by 800% over the nearest competition:

Great post,I hope he does it,he can take up where he left off.He would need to have a plan for Iraq and could head off another disaster in Iran by speaking out early.I'm a person who doesn't trust HRC at all and most of all on the Middle East.He must at least wish to undo the damage of the present administration and leave a solid legacy

What fails to get mentioned is that a Republican led congress in FLorida voted to change the date of our election. The fact that the DNC refuses to recognize this is very troubling. Our votes again are being threatened, but instead of the republican party doing it as in 2000, it is my own political party!! I really could give a rat's a@# when we vote just as long as that vote is counted. What does it really matter in the long run who votes when? Why can't we all vote the same day? Would it really cause disenfranchised voters as much as not counting an entire state would??

The DNC and GOP control primary dates, not the states. Remember that the GOP did also refuses to allow the new Florida primary date.

From your mouth to God's ears as they say! Wow, what a wonderful plan. Are people really working to put him on the ballot? Here's to those who haven't given up! I sure haven't. You know, after 8 years of Bush, we deserve Gore. The smartest guy in the room as opposed to well, you fill in the blank.
