Al Gore's Political Courage

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

What a glorious day to see Al Gore accept his Nobel medal and diploma in Oslo. The man once elected president of this great country, only to be turned out of office by dangerous Bush political operatives such as James Baker, myopic and cowardly Supreme Court justices, such as Sandra Day O'Connor and thugs posing as election officials on the payroll of Florida's governor, Jeb Bush.

Al Gore today takes his place as a true global leader. Through his important work, he demonstrates the insight and determination that was the measure of political courage yesterday, is so today and will be tomorrow. It is the necessary force for change that has constituted great political movements in this and other nations throughout human history. It is the essential combination of character and inspiration that we require in difficult times. Those qualities have typically resided in the one individual who can turn the guts, wealth and ingenuity of the USA into solutions for the world's problems. Today they reside in Nobel Prize winer Albert Gore. They used to reside in one that we call the President of the United States.

Where does Gore stand on any issue other than the environment? I know that he played a strong role in stripping out the social safety net (welfare "reform") during the Clinton administration, using those public funds instead to finance the tax cuts for the wealthiest/corporations. With the exception of the single issue of the environment, he has consistently been very conservative in his views and policies.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Mr Gore would jump into the race before Jan...and knock Hillary for a loop as she veers more and more towards the center riding the fence and avoiding answers to questions...then knocks Obama out! (Hillary clone) ..as when they talk of we need new blood...that would NOT be Obama he is related to both Bush and Cheney amongst other previous presidents(maternally)(wargs.com) and his experience consists of 3 years in the senate. Gore is the rightful heir to the presidency after being cheated and hacked out of it by the Bush machine. He could accomplish so much good for our planet...I will keep my fingers crossed!

What I consider a hero is someone who stands up
for an idea that is good, helps people or makes the world in general a better place to be. That
easily includes the hardworking farmer, the
teacher who buys books for her class, the retired person who tutors kids who have trouble
in school. It also includes public figures,
whether they are actors, political activists,
or former Vice-Presidents.

I honestly don't know who should be President,
who can you trust? Who has a good enough past
history? How can you trust anyone or anything
connected with Washington?

Ok, so maybe he is a good man but the main question I have is why did he not act on his convictions while he was in the second seat of the white house ride? Isn't it possible this timing of this issue was motivated politically as a hot button issue? He didn't have the courage to approach the business interests (auto and oil industries just for starters)who stand to lose with any approach to global warming. Maybe he is not such a great man after all.

I too, am glad Mr. Gore has brought this matter to light. It forced many to delve beyond the entertaining fluff where they were surprised to find facts that trumped his fiction. It taught many to stop being easily fooled.
What Mr. Baldwin needs do to remove his self imposed prison of "feelings" about this, and join "pragmatic researchers." There he would find the boring truth and facts that mostly debunk the alleged "Global Warming. That truth would set him free.
Meanwhile, here are some things we all CAN do...cost and pollutent free...to bring back the healthy culture we need - and save billions of dollars and millions of lives to boot!
* Exercise good manners.
* Obey traffic laws.
* Don't do drugs.
* Not be coarse in our behavior or language.
* Maintain ones area so as not to bring harm to thy neighbor.
* Seek always, truth and fact. Get the entire picture before giving an opinion.
* Be scrupulously honest. P.T. Barnum said, "You can't cheat an honest man."
* Be cognizant of your actions, and know that what you see is a direct reflection of them.
* Be un-afraid to admit when you've made a mistake.
Mr. Baldwin, we'd be honored if you'd lead the charge on re-introducing our society to such necessary goodness.
Thank you.

Thanks for your thoughts. I watched DemocracyNow! and listened to his speech. I think fate played a wicked hand when Mr. Gore had the Presidency taken from him/us.

Mr. Baldwin I also would like to add a personal word. Stand strong and thank you for your blog. Everyone needs to speak out.

One fails to see much political courage in receiving a "peace" award, previously bestowed on corrupt advocates of terror such as Arafat or Mr. Carter, perhaps the only President as awful (for different reasons) as Mr. Bush. Mr. Gore's silly science, badly written book now labled political by foreign courts and most scientists, indicates more of an overinflated and superficial ego, with a profound sense of self and not substance. While Mr. Gore jets about and uses more KWH each day than most towns in Africa, the real conservation work and real identification of ecological disaster and an understanding of threats to organisms goes unheralded and ignored. Mr. Gore and others contribute little to the debate that has significance and actually detracts from what needs to be done.

Many of us hoped that Al Gore would jump into the presidential race; it was a dream.
My pride in Mr. Gore has grown over the years; and, I believe he has grown as a human being. The theft of the 2000 election was stunning; also stunning, the fact, the race should not have even been lose!
As unlucky as we and the world have been under this cur, illegitimate cabal of bloodthirsty chicken hawks; we are all lucky, to have Al Gore, because at last everyone is listening.

I know of many every day heros, who do more "on the ground" work, conserving our land and water, maintaining co-mingled habitats of wild and domestic life, providing safe supplies of food, fuel and fiber, while wading through 12 foot piles of choking regs. and people trying to steal their land and water. In spite of all that, they still raise well-mannered, honest children who have a great work ethic. They obey laws and take care not to bring harm to their neighbor. They carry more good into our culture in one hour, than Mr. Gore will do in a lifetime. And, they do it in bone chilling or scorching temperatures, on a tractor or a horse, with callous hands on the reins or wheel, wearing cowboy boots, bib overalls or jeans... they plow forward.
Those, are my Nobel Peace Prize winners.

And, what award did "W" win? Nobel don't have a award for invasions. Lying is a category "W" could win! Impeachment has come up but, Nancy must be afraid of losing her job too, Is her airplane big enough now, And we thought size don't matter! They are afraid to start impeachment proceedings because the snowball effect might not stop till ALL the elected criminals are dealt with. then they can go back to chasing ambulances..

It would help Mr. Gore if he got together with
the scientists, biologists, and enviromental
experts that support his theories, and have done
the research. Something simular to what just
happened with Obama, a celeb and a large venue.
Who cares if people just come to see celebs, the
message still gets out.

Mr. Baldwin;

Nice to see you back on this Blog, again, I've missed your readings! (But can you go a little easy on one of my Fellow Arizonans? We love her here.)

I'm in agreement with your position with Al Gore, and have been communicating with him/his website Gurus for a few months now. They have respectfully ackowledged and respected me and a new innovation in building frame reinforcing that I have developed, that helps in a lot of environmental conservation issues.
The Gore Groups are including my new technology when they speak out against Global Warming and about how several new technologies and innovations will assist in solving environmental problems.
I definitely am for Going Green, Clean Energy, saving the Forests, etc; and would like to forward a continued thanks to Supporters like you of these same issues!
My particular innovation is called Continuous Reinforcing for building and structure frames, and has several direct and indirect positive impacts on the environment, Consumer Safety, Protection, and Security (the core basis of these systems), and positive economic growth for our Nation and the Nations of the World, which, I hope will take a bite out of poverty, as well.
If you are interested(goes for all Blog Readers)in more info about these systems, contact me at dubephnx@yahoo.com, and I'll forward to you my website address, and info packets, as requested.

"Go-Green, with hurricane-force wind-proof building frames"!!!

Happy Holidays; God Bless; Randy
