Al Gore's Political Courage

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

What a glorious day to see Al Gore accept his Nobel medal and diploma in Oslo. The man once elected president of this great country, only to be turned out of office by dangerous Bush political operatives such as James Baker, myopic and cowardly Supreme Court justices, such as Sandra Day O'Connor and thugs posing as election officials on the payroll of Florida's governor, Jeb Bush.

Al Gore today takes his place as a true global leader. Through his important work, he demonstrates the insight and determination that was the measure of political courage yesterday, is so today and will be tomorrow. It is the necessary force for change that has constituted great political movements in this and other nations throughout human history. It is the essential combination of character and inspiration that we require in difficult times. Those qualities have typically resided in the one individual who can turn the guts, wealth and ingenuity of the USA into solutions for the world's problems. Today they reside in Nobel Prize winer Albert Gore. They used to reside in one that we call the President of the United States.

Dr. Baldwin, I know you meant Nobel winner when you said Nobel winer. I wonder if you weren't correct in the misspelling?

Thank Siddhartha we have scientifically trained men such as Albert Gore to lead this world back to nuclear energy so we can comply with Kyoto, as we would have had not the nuclear fear mongers stone-walled the industry because of a couple of hiccups, and skilled film industry types such as yourself to lead us out of this miasma that we have been wallowing in so long. Who else could have ended the debate and settled the science?

Does anyone doubt that had the election gone to Al Gore, and had he gotten US into the mess we're in now, that the Republican House & Senate would long ago have impeached and convicted him for the "high crimes and misdemeanors" that we've witnessed?
That of course begs the question: Would Al Gore have taken US where George Bush has? Of course not! It's ironic that Congress, who gave Bush a pass, would not have allowed it! Go figure...

Alec,

You are an awesome human being! Don't ruin it by running for public office ;}

Absolutely right, Alec. Al Gore“s speech when he got the Nobel Prize also showed him to be a wise man.

Too bad though that the Bali climate meeting does not seem to be prosperous, but that is to be expected when too many chefs try to make a soup.

Like someone said, there is always the possibility to buy a exhaustion right to get a clean consious before taking the plane to a vacation in Thailand. If the purchase receipt will stop the North Pole from melting, that is another story.

The only thing I want for Christmas is for Al Gore to run for President...

A leader leads when his nation needs him.

A leader doesn't play coy about whether he's going to enter a race.

Sen. Gore's a good man, and the coup of 2000 was a tragedy for all mankind, but his behavior during this election cycle has not been courageous.

Well said, Mr. Baldwin! Thank you for the eloquent post.

Have you thought of running for office? Bet you could give a helluva speech...

(You were the best, sexiest Jack Ryan.)

Thanks Alec.
I was so happy to hear Gore say that he might still be thinking about running for President at some point.
Sooner would be better than later, Mr. President.

I found it interesting that he went to such great lengths to NOT be critical of Lil' Georgie, yet did manage to get a little swipe in at Bush Sr.

Gore makes me proud to be an American, and that's not easy these days.
