Al Gore's Political Courage

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

What a glorious day to see Al Gore accept his Nobel medal and diploma in Oslo. The man once elected president of this great country, only to be turned out of office by dangerous Bush political operatives such as James Baker, myopic and cowardly Supreme Court justices, such as Sandra Day O'Connor and thugs posing as election officials on the payroll of Florida's governor, Jeb Bush.

Al Gore today takes his place as a true global leader. Through his important work, he demonstrates the insight and determination that was the measure of political courage yesterday, is so today and will be tomorrow. It is the necessary force for change that has constituted great political movements in this and other nations throughout human history. It is the essential combination of character and inspiration that we require in difficult times. Those qualities have typically resided in the one individual who can turn the guts, wealth and ingenuity of the USA into solutions for the world's problems. Today they reside in Nobel Prize winer Albert Gore. They used to reside in one that we call the President of the United States.

Bravo to Mr. Baldwin for stating so eloquently what so many of us feel about Mr. Gore and the stolen presidency. We can only imagine how different things would have been had the rightful winner of the 2000 election been installed in office. We know what we WOULDN'T have gotten: six years of the "torture & terror" team that is the Bush White House. Of course, given the manner in which Bush assumed office & the controversy which continued to surround his "election" until that fateful morning of Sept. 11, 2001, what other choice would a loser/coward make than to exploit the tragedy for his own political gain. The only choices the "decider" has made since then have, at best, been bad and, at worst, disastrous.

Before ANYONE gets all teary eyed at the wonder of a Gore presidency let's remember that he chose LIEBERMAN as his running mate! Does this REALLY sound like the kind of guy who would do jack all for the country?

Honestly get over it. Gore is a fine statesman. As a politician he barely self destructed in time. Let's thank our stars and move on.

VP Al Gore is a true stateman, with honor, credibility and integrity. Global warming is the passion of Al Gore for many years, he have been telling the American people our planet is in danger, nobody paid attention. He's a visionary, a rarity in our world. He was my President in 2000, I knew he won the election but was cheated in Florida.

I feel a deep sense of sadness whenever I think of 2000, we would not be in the mess we are in right now, if Gore is our President.

In 2030 (that is not too far)majority of the islands of Indonesia would be under water, and yet, the skeptics are still saying there is no global warming. I've seen the temperature changing drastically, the increase of hurricanes yearly is increasing.

The planet will stay, it will mend itself, but humans might not be here anymore. We are killing our own specie because of arrogance and carelessness. China and USA must work together to stop pollution, killing our planet. Although China plan to spend $25 billions in three years to clean their environment, it will not solve their problem, they have factories all over China (rapid expansion without environmental planning) belching pollutants into the atmosphere. These pollutants carried by the wind goes to other countries.

Global warming is a problem of every country in the world, Bush must stop those scientists he was paying to deny our planet is in danger and WE humans are in danger of annihilation.

Albert Gore, Jr., will not run for president because he has now become hostage to his own rhetoric of doom and gloom. For if he were to run he would have to propose policies to match his hysteria, and he knows that those policy proposals will not be accepted. He is anything but courageous, he is, in fact, a coward, content to get rich on his "theories" but failing to put his ass on the line. So he will now ride the wave for as long as it lasts, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Yes Alec I agree. I would love to know who you endorse since Al will not be coming to our rescue.

Two items struck me in my morning news perusal... Vast areas of Greenland's ice melting (Enough to cover Washington DC to a depth of a half a mile), and Al Gore's magnificent speech in Oslo. I ask myself, as I ponder the likelihood of a truly dreadful future for my young son, why is this man not our president? Then I continue my perusal, and come again to a tired conclusion. Because we as a people have lost the courage to listen to the inconvenient truth. We have lost the courage to face simple arithmetical fact, and we refuse to listen to those who warn us of oncoming storms. The right to say "I told you so" will be a cold comfort in the years to come.

Too bad Al isn't going to run this time around,...

But then again - he probably can do more good outside the 'whacky' DC insider universe anyway.

What kind of country would we be living in today if Al hadn't run a horrible campaign against a beatable opponent - and if Florida hadn't been 'stolen' from their electorate?

My guess - we would still have issues, but we would have a much more positive outlook and direction.
