Alex Conant served as the Republican National Committee’s National Press Secretary during the 2008 election cycle, where his responsibilities included closely monitoring and responding to Barack Obama. Prior to joining the RNC, Conant was a White House spokesman, serving in the Office of Management and Budget and Office of Media Affairs.

Previously, Conant was Secretary of Commerce Don Evans’ speechwriter and Senator John Thune’s press secretary. He was also a communicator for Senate campaigns in Minnesota and Washington state.

He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was editor in chief of the student newspaper, The Badger Herald.
