Street Fashion: The First Days of Spring (PHOTOS)

What's Your Reaction:

This past weekend was stunning, and taking to the streets of SoHo and the other neighborhoods of New York was a joy. I wanted to focus on a variety of looks. One amazing woman is dressed in a black Rick Owens (slide 12), another in Forever 21 (slide four). Of course, I couldn't resist snapping a photo of one shirtless man, his girlfriend seemed to be giving orders. In an equally raspy voice, she said "this guy wants to take your picture, stand there." I snapped.

Who follows trends dictated by those moguls deserves to get ripped off. All I can say is that close to everyone will hate the same stuff in about twenty years.

I love street fashion. I remember one time when I was shopping (many years ago...how young I was) in Bloomingdale's, I walked right by Ralph Lauren who was standing by his men's fragrance counter staring me up and down intently. I later read that he loved to watch street fashion, so maybe I inspired him...either that or he wanted to see what NOT to do!

That's SoHo for ya. No one looks like this on the Upper West Side.

sorry Dedrick, have you ever thought of getting a one way down town ticket on the #1 train. it sounds as if you need a breath of non bougee non middle brow, non Upper West Side poison gas. should you decide to venture south. you can wear anything you bloody well please. welcome

Ha! You think it's non-bougie to wear fashions like this? Next time we ought to ask these 'street fashionistas' how much time, money and energy they spend thinking about their image and how other people see them. I think that is the definition of bourgeouis.
