I am self-taught photography and Photoshop enthusiast who initially came into the photography blog realm a little backwards. I first fell in love with Photoshop and the ability to create and manipulate photos. Using just my point and shoot I began to delve more and more into Photoshop and coincidentally more into photography and the inner workings of a camera. As my passion slowly turned into obsession I started a photo blog and upgraded to a Nikon D90, my first and current DSLR.
Over time I have found that though I love the act of taking photos, I feel more at home in the creative editing element. I like taking a photo and really making it speak. A picture is worth a thousand words, but what about a thousand more? That's what excites me. Don't get me wrong, I am a mom of three girls so I spend most of my time shooting my kids, and while I certainly enjoy capturing their life via a lens, I love a good out of the box edit too!

Why There's an Age Gap Between Our 3 Children

(2) Comments | Posted March 25, 2015 | 6:59 PM

As a parent of three girls, I get some run of the mill questions and comments:

"Are you going to try for a boy?"

"Wait until their teenagers!" *insert crazy laugh*

"Are you going to try for a boy?"

"That's a lot of weddings! Cha-ching!"

"Are you going to try...

What Garth Brooks Taught Me About Parenting

As your kids get bigger, so do their attitudes.

It's no lie.

As a mother to three girls, let me just say they can be little hellions.

BUT,

My oldest did something that made me melt and made me wonder if perhaps I got it all wrong.

Here's a little...

5 Must-Have Mom Items to Brave the Grocery Store With Kids

I don't care who are you but if you have kids, you are going to hate grocery shopping. Of course, unless it's without the kids. Then it's awesome.

But when you have to drag children into the confines of large, prison like structure (Walmart, Kmart, any "mart" on the face...

How I Failed My Daughter

My middle daughter is 7 years old now.

She was around 4 at the time this photo was taken, and I had no idea she had a vision problem.

Problem may even be putting it lightly.

She was practically...

I Photograph to Remember

(0) Comments | Posted December 12, 2014 | 10:22 AM

I like to take photos of things that may be a bit out of the ordinary: My kids eating, a random trip to Goodwill, the horrid bed head my middle child wakes up with every morning.

These things are a little out of the realm of what I find in...

What Has Becoming A Parent Done To Me?

(0) Comments | Posted December 9, 2014 | 10:53 AM

I have thought for many years that I live on, or somewhere near, Memory Lane. And I mean that figuratively, of course.

(2009)

Becoming a parent has done something wicked to me. Instead of waiting for the future, I sometimes find...

Mothers Everywhere, You Are Welcome

(0) Comments | Posted November 11, 2014 | 2:09 PM

This Sunday, I lowered expectations for mothers everywhere.

While many of us try to live up to the hype, I did us all a favor and lowered the bar.

I let my kids eat candy for breakfast, wash it down with a Dr. Pepper, and I even let one sleep...

You Can Love and Hate Photoshop

(2) Comments | Posted September 29, 2014 | 12:27 PM

Sometimes I take photos with the intention of nothing.
As in, it's just a picture of my kid's _________ (playing, laughing, glaring at me etc.).
So that's what I did this particular dreary fall day
I took my camera and just took pictures of them being kids.

Reinventing the Fairy Tale

(5) Comments | Posted September 19, 2014 | 9:47 AM

I have fond memories as a kid imagining myself within the confines of some of my favorite stories. Living amongst the old woman and all her children in the shoe, accompanying James as he traveled in his giant peach and, if I'm being honest, I was also a member of...

Finding Art in Everyday Life

(2) Comments | Posted August 28, 2014 | 10:17 AM

Some people just know they are good at something. They find it while they are young, they find it easy and they excel. Not me. I love being creative, but I have never considered myself an artist or much of an original crafter. I have enjoyed drawing, dabbled in a...
