David Axelrod: Despite Solyndra, Clean Energy Thrust Continues

Posted: 01/31/2012 6:56 pm

In an exclusive Fresh Dialogues interview in Silicon Valley last Friday, Obama's chief political strategist, David Axelrod, confirmed that despite the Solyndra bankruptcy, the administration's clean energy focus will continue. "We need to command the clean energy technology of the future... or we're going to see that go to other parts of the world," he said.

Obama's first 2012 Campaign ad featured a strong defense of his green policy and Axelrod described it as a response to an ad backed by the pro-oil Koch brothers. ABC News said the claims in the the Koch brothers' ad were "not tethered to the facts."

In this interview, Axelrod puts Solyndra in context and explains why clean energy policy is important to the future of the U.S. economy and its job market. For transcripts and more, click over to Fresh Dialogues.

The interview took place backstage at Foothill College's Celebrity Forum on January 27, 2012.

Why let a potential loss of $6.5 billion spread out over 12 companies get in the way of Obama’s feel-good “green energy” loan program?

Great to see David Axelrod in the green section. Good for him! This could signal to those of us on the green side that the administration, given sufficient people backing and cover, is willing to do the right thing.
