The Pellicano Trial: Recording of Former Baseball Player Matt Williams' Phone Call with Anthony Pellicano

Here is the complete audio recording of former baseball player Matt Williams' conversation with Anthony Pellicano. Mr. Williams called Mr. Pellicano about possibly retaining the investigator. Only the final portion of the audio recording was played in court yesterday. The attached recording includes the entire conversation turned over by the government to the defense. On the audio recording -- which Mr. Williams testified was recorded without his knowledge -- Mr. Pellicano informs Mr. Williams of the special services he can provide to his clients, including listening in on potential targets.

Matt Williams is a former baseball player for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He contacted Anthony Pellicano because he was having problems with his ex-wife over custody issues of their children. While on the phone with Pellicano, the detective offered to listen in the on the ex-wife's conversations. Mr. Williams was called by the prosecution because he could testify to Mr. Pellicano actually offering to wiretap someone for him and because there is a tape of Mr. Pellicano offering to wiretap someone for him. Mr. Williams also testified that he didn't hire Pellicano because wiretapping is illegal and he didn't want any part of being involved in something like that. Mr. Williams now has full custody of his children -- but he claims that Mr. Pellicano was of no help to him whatsoever in his custody dispute.
