Well, He Did It. And He Did It Extremely Well.

I've grown accustomed to his job out of necessity. It's really only weird to see him on television in public places (billboards and gyms) when I'm completely anonymous and have a special connection with "that dude" that no one around me realizes.

Last night I remembered how awesome it is that my dad is Brian Williams. I could not be prouder to share genes, a last name, love for SNL, and many other things with him.

The show was a great success. His acting was nuanced, subtle, and wonderful, the lines were delivered naturally (not a surprise), his characters were colorful, he took enough risks and didn't cross any lines, and lastly: HE'S FUNNY! Let the record show that Brian Williams is a man with a mind for journalism and comedy.

His versatility should be commended. He accomplished so much during this week. During our few video chats throughout the course of the process, we were able to catch up about everything that was going on in both of our lives (one of those things, in both cases, was not sleep). He was so psyched about this all week and withheld almost all the information about the show from me so I could be surprised. And I was.

This morning, he woke up and said, "I'll put this on the mantle and look at it every day. This experience is something to be proud of, remember fondly, and leave it where it was. I am excited to go back to work on Monday."

He will. And as always, he'll return poised, refreshed, and live at 6:30 PM EST on Monday night.

I love you dad, and congratulations.

Allison Williams.
"And that's the way I roll."

Heaven forbid there be a lighthearted post, even (gasp) a nice post where a daughter simply wants to publicly praise her dad.

What is wrong with you people who feel the need to trash him or her for it? Good grief, for a liberal, supposedly open-minded site, there's a lot of contempt, or dare I say, even hatred seeping out of threads like this one.

Lighten up, and let the girl have her moment. There are plenty of other posts here where you can open fire on the media, Republicans and pretty much everything else you're upset about.

Enjoy the moment with your dad, Allison.

Who cares whether Brian Williams is funny. He has a nightly news program that lacks the courage and journalistic integrity to challenge the illegality of the policies of the Bush Administration. Our constitution and the fact that it has been weakened by this administration and the fact that Brian Williams and others of the mainstream media fail to seriously call them on it is what matters. I am sorry Allison, grow up.

The girl never did say her opinion would be unobjective. How could it be? Thank goodness for the strong positive Father, Daughter relationships we do have in this country. Not too many of them left..What is a shame in this country is the Media as a whole. Brian Williams has been a victim of the establishment he works for just as all other journalists and reporters. God help that industry. It's so dishonest.

I saw it, and he did do very well. I was impressed.

This is not to say I'm impressed with the MSM, who are a major reason America has become an immoral country that is circling the drain, but credit where credit is due.

We call him B-dub...short for BW.

Funny, no kidding?
Wait a moment: did he come up with the lines that he 'memorized'? No, but he delivered them 'naturally'. Hence - great sense of humor? Sorry, it does not work like that. Or is it taking a joke - well deserved.
What I find fantastic is a daughter praising her dad to heaven and - being 'published' well, in opinions yet...This is by definition an highly unobjective view and both the daughter and publisher should be restraining themselves from eathering it. There is plenty of media and quasi-media abuse, why add to the general lack of self-control and dignity.
Sorry, but this eulogy is directly proportional to every dad's opinion on their 5 year old perfect ballerina or 9 year old world's best pitcher or 13 year old universe delivered supreme poet, etc.
Writing a 'memoire' on it would not be a good idea too although you could probably sell it, could sell anything. It is not that everything is right. What's wrong with America is that she acts as if everything is.

Your father did an extraordinarily good job. And, since someone needs to, please let me apologize for the idiocy going on in this thread--apparently, to some members of the far left, open-mindedness is treason. This is where the far left joins company with the far right. It is, of course, your Dad's job to keep up with conservative views, and I admire him for doing so. Smearing someone with an edited version of an interview is worthy of Fox News--and, apparently, it's acceptable to that channel's counterparts on the left. The two groups have much in common.

I thought he was great on SNL in fact, I tuned in late and was wondering throughout if it was really him or an actor playing him!
Good job, Brian. But Rush Limbaugh, really dude? WTF?

I'm no fan of Brian Williams because I think he has carried water for the right wing too many times. I will say that he did a good job on SNL though, and good for his daughter for being proud of her Dad's performance.

It was one of the funniest SNL's this season. You should be proud. I actually stayed awake throughout the whole show, that hasn't happened in awhile. Well Done Mr. Williams!

I still haven't forgiven Brian Williams for his role as a media tool of the Bush regime.

He actually had the nerve to praise Rush Limbaugh as a great broadcaster.

That wasn't as bad as Katie Couric who featured Rush Limbaugh on her show.

Also, I generally don't like SNL. SNL hasn't been funny for like 20 years.

Sorry to be a wet blanket but I don't think an appearance on the Colbert Report and SNL counts as a mea culpa for his Republican bias.

I look forward to BriWi's early retirement.

Having a sense of humor somehow leaves me cold when the guy is an admirer of Rush Limbaugh.

Sorry - Allison. Please try to straighten out your Dad on this.
