I've grown accustomed to his job out of necessity. It's really only weird to see him on television in public places (billboards and gyms) when I'm completely anonymous and have a special connection with "that dude" that no one around me realizes.
Last night I remembered how awesome it is that my dad is Brian Williams. I could not be prouder to share genes, a last name, love for SNL, and many other things with him.
The show was a great success. His acting was nuanced, subtle, and wonderful, the lines were delivered naturally (not a surprise), his characters were colorful, he took enough risks and didn't cross any lines, and lastly: HE'S FUNNY! Let the record show that Brian Williams is a man with a mind for journalism and comedy.
His versatility should be commended. He accomplished so much during this week. During our few video chats throughout the course of the process, we were able to catch up about everything that was going on in both of our lives (one of those things, in both cases, was not sleep). He was so psyched about this all week and withheld almost all the information about the show from me so I could be surprised. And I was.
This morning, he woke up and said, "I'll put this on the mantle and look at it every day. This experience is something to be proud of, remember fondly, and leave it where it was. I am excited to go back to work on Monday."
He will. And as always, he'll return poised, refreshed, and live at 6:30 PM EST on Monday night.
I love you dad, and congratulations.
Allison Williams.
"And that's the way I roll."

I forgot to watch.
But with the strike I'll bet it will re-air four times before the year's up.
Based on his Daily Show and Colbert Report appearances, I already knew your dad was funny playing himself. But his skit work last night exceeded my expectations. He seemed completely at home on the SNL stage.
Senator Obama was a guest too. Now somebody will say that he upstaged Mr Williams; but it didn't happen that way. If the writers are long winded maybe we'll get a few alalytical reviews of the last SNL before the strike. Some will choose to inflict opinions of how SNL showed the characters of both Obama & Williams. Telling how SNL's writers, producers & directors crafted a successful show while handling two newsmakers could be interesting as a case study.
I've seen his wit many times on Letterman and Leno among others, but I wasn't sure how it might translate to sketch comedy.
He was great.
HE should take over for Leno, not O'Brien.
Allison, I am sorry but I'm not a big fan of your dad's and when I heard he was going to host SNL my opinion didn't rise. Hey, but I watched and loved it! He was more natural than the regulars and it was nice to see a player (your dad) actually memorize the lines. He was terrific and you every reason to be proud!
He was definitely FUNNY.
The first skit sort of...well...wasn't the best one for him to be first on, but the rest were fall down funny.
I knew he had a wicked sense of humor when I saw him on Jon Stewart as the big giant head behind Jon.
And there was his appearances on Jon's show that were hilarious.
A sense of humor?
Absolutely!!!
Gotta a great dad there!!
Dear lord I'm going to puke.
