Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is one of the nation's foremost diplomats, but she has also become famous for her signature brooches. The woman who famously said, "If someone wants to know what kind of mood I'm in, read my pins!" sits down with GMA Now to discuss politics, brooches and what to make of Senator Obama's refusal to wear an American flag lapel pin (in a nutshell: "Nothing"). Have a look:
Find out what advice Secretary Albright has for the next President.

Republicans were their Chinese made lapel flag pins proudly.
Well, can you really believe Madeline Albright? I know she's one of the smartest people on the planet, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. and all, but doesn't that just mean she's an "elitist?" You know, "elite" enough to know garbage when she sees it?
Forget Flag Pins - I expect anyone I vote for to have the US Flag tattooed on their forehead!
How about a flag tat on the old naughty bits?
Albright was asked to go to the UN Security Council to push for the bombing of Serbia.
Miller was asked to repeat the Obama-flag question to help elect HRC/McCain to push for the bombing of Iran
Two women, two bombing campaigns.
I've heard that when an acid trip gets too intense a mega-dose of vitamin B-12 and a big glass of orange juice can help get you "grounded". Give it a try. It might work for you.
lol i forgot about that remedy!
"Albright was asked to go to the UN Security Council to push for the bombing of Serbia."
Go figure. Conduct even one little genocide (as Serbia did) and people look funny at you for the rest of your life.
This whole controversy about flag pins is so ridiculous. How many of use walk around with a picture of our spouse pinned to our lapels/clothes just to prove we love them? Neither my spouse nor I carry a picture of each other in our wallets. It's not a conscious decision that we went out of our way to make. It's just that it's not our bag; and we don't think any less of each other beacuse of it. We know we love each other--we've been happily married for 30 years. This hoopla about the flag pins is the kind of trivial nonsense that takes away from people paying attention to what really matters.
Well said. A true diplomat and a breath of fresh air especially in light of the crap being thrown around lately.
Exactly, this flag pin crap is just another distraction from the republicans so we don't see they've nominated Grandpa McCrazy
The one thing you could go to the bank on is this: If Obama was an unpatriotic scoundrel he would never be caught out of the house WITHOUT HIS LAPEL PIN!. Camouflage is the art of having people see what you intend them to see.
Exactly. It is why the republicans who have few, if any, of their talking heads having served in the military have taken on the mantra of being such great 'patriots. ' In fact, if one looks between the lines, their desire for a strong military has nothing to do with their self-professed patriotism, rather it has to do with a means to carry out their imperialism, which provides them with other nation-states resources. There patriotism therefore, is simply a fullfillment of their economic policies around the world to rule over those who would otherwise stand in their way of creating wealth.
m.'
Finally when Obama speaks of truth, some cheer but they should understand at the core of real truth is real discomfort; in that these republicans have done some real corrupt things in the name of America, which will hurt us for decades to come because the Democratic Party allowed these folks to own the raw meaning of 'patriotis
With Obama, the Democratic Party can move in the direction of re-defining many of the republican talking points and in the upcoming debates with John McCain who will be playing with the ole playbook, Obama will craft a clear, strong message to rebutt the misdirections and the untruths of the republicans patriotism argument. It will be key to Obama defeating the republicans on their central issue: the Iraq War.
Didn't really need the ad to go with my politics. I thought this was a serious news site?
Rove must be famous for the Dai-Sentry pills.....
The bigger the Pick Up truck
The smaller the penis
Pick ups, though? I understand SUVs, but little pick ups are just pointless!
Real men don't wear brooches or need to display anything with jewelry. Most wearing flag pins have avoided military service. Thats a pathetic way to compensate.
Like love, patriotism is subjective. There is no objective way to define the word. The whole argument of who is a patriot and who isn't, is absurd.
I'd go one further and say patriotism is narrow-minded group oriented thinking, a remnant of our evolutionary past that needs to be disavowed in informed contexts.
IMHO the wearing of an American flag pin or other patriotic device says nothing about the true feelings of the wearer. It might say a lot about the wearer trying to snow or show or prove to others how patriotic they are. The is a reverse ratio here, for example, the office worker who has many photos of their spouse and children. The reverse ratio is the more photos they have, the less likely they are being faithful to their spouse. Another example is the more you denounce something the likelier that you are also doing it. The more you wave the flag sometime the less patriotic you really are. I think Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) best said it. "Waving the Flag is the last step of the scoundrel"
The "Scoundrels" have a stable over at FOX
But don't we all know the media LOVES to get worked up about NOTHING... ..
