Ambassador Andrew J. Young is Chairman of the Southern Africa Enterprise Development Fund, or SAEDF, created in 1994 by President Bill Clinton and South African President Nelson Mandela to foster the growth of small and medium-size businesses throughout southern Africa. Funded by a $100 million grant from the U.S. Department of State, SAEDF provides capital to businesses in 11 southern Africa countries and has helped create thousands of jobs and stimulate local economies through entrepreneurship.

Ambassador Young also serves as Chairman of Goodworks International, a specialty consulting group based in Atlanta, Georgia, that provides strategic services to corporations and governments operating in the global economy.

Ambassador Young has served as United States Ambassador to the United Nations and as Co-Chair of the Atlanta Committee for the Centennial Olympic Games. He served two terms as Mayor of Atlanta, one of the fastest growing cities in the world, was elected a United States Congressman three times, and is a leading figure in the civil rights movement.

Ambassador Young was a top aide to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the civil rights movement, and served as Vice-President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. He presently serves on the Board of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change.

Today, Ambassador Young also serves as a member of the boards of directors of numerous organizations and leading businesses. He is an ordained minister and the past President of the National Council of Churches. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the French Legion of Honor, the Bishop Walker Humanitarian Award and over 60 honorary degrees from universities around the world.
