5 Best Summer Indie Beach Reads

Posted: 07/12/11 08:34 AM ET

Let's face it. You can pretty much predict what everyone else at the beach will be reading this summer. A bit of what's on the USA Today bestseller list, a pinch of whatever is in People magazine and a healthy dose of whatever was suggested by The New York Times.

Which is fine. But what if you're tired of reading the same thing everyone else has stuffed in their design beach bags? What if you're more of a pioneer? Someone who gets a kick out of discovering something new? Where's your list of great books to read whilst you tan?

Look no further, my friend, because we at IndieReader (via the Huffington Post) have gathered some of our best reviewed books, compiled here, for your reading enjoyment. Because someone has to discover the next Stieg Larsson, Janet Evanovich and [fill in the blank]. No reason why it shouldn't be you!

1). "Kisses Of An Enemy" by Ray Flynt (Thriller)

Reviewed by Steven Maginnis:

A thriller set in Washington, D.C., "Kisses of An Enemy" is about scandal and duplicity in which practically none of the characters have any virtue or morals. The author does an excellent job of keeping things moving along in a storyline that has more twists and turns than the Pacific Coast Highway. In short, it's an entirely believable story, and a very good one at that.

A good read is Happier Than A Billionaire. A funny narrative about quitting one's job and moving to Costa RIca.

Thanks for the great tips! I read "A Secret of the Universe" and absolutely LOVED it, really looking forward to checking out the others! I posted a link to this article on my blog, which covers destination weddings and honeymoons...thought it would make a great suggestion for some honeymoon beach reads!
