As director of the TED Prize, it's been hard to keep secret the wish of 2012 TED Prize winner -- the City 2.0.
But Wednesday night, we revealed the wish to those at TED -- and to all the people around the world who streamed in.
Beyond words, this video shows what the City 2.0 asks of us all. WATCH: http://thecity2.org/splash.php
The challenge of this particular TED Prize wish offers an amazing opportunity for radical collaboration. Every day -- from Rio to New York to Mumbai -- decisions are made around transportation, energy, public space, housing, and law. Rather than leaving these decisions in the hands of others, theCity2.org provides a platform so we can all become part of the solution.
We want everyone to be inspired, and engage in the upgrade of their own cities through a range of projects that they can propose -- and lead. The site also offers a platform whereby companies and individuals can provide resources to bring these dreams to fruition.
There is a role for everyone, but for this to work -- and it should -- it will take the brainpower, grit, enthusiasm and action of us all.
