Andrew Franklin is the Publisher and Managing Director of Profile Books,
one of Britain's leading independent publishers. He set the company up
11 years ago on April Fools' Day 1996.

Andrew Franklin's authors at Profile include Alan Bennett, Francis
Fukuyama, Wole Soyinka, Germaine Greer and Lynne Truss, whose book
Eats, Shoots and Leaves has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Unlike
many independent publishers, Profile has been consistently profitable
since its second year and grown every year too. This is despite its
commitment to publishing original, stimulating and sometimes challenging
non-fiction.

Before Profile, Andrew Franklin was the Publisher of Hamish Hamilton and
a director of Penguin Books for six years. Before that he was an editor
at Penguin. His own publishing career began in bookselling at Hatchards
bookshop in London and he then worked his way up the ladder through a
variety of menial jobs at Faber & Faber, Methuen and Sidgwick and
Jackson.

Andrew Franklin is married with three troublesome children. He is a
trustee of the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Chairman of the
Jewish Community Centre for London.

He writes occasionally for the British press and early on in his career
wrote two travel guides. For his political interventions he was called
'the rudest man in Britain' by the Guardian newspaper.
