The Right Wing Scream Machine is in full cry about the #OccupyWallStreet protests -- sort of like a schoolyard bully, suddenly facing a 4th grader who's had enough.
Happily, the people behind the hyperventilating don't seem to realize that the more extreme their rhetoric, the less people listen to them.
It does seem to me that the course they're on, so strident and obviously over-reaching, is practically designed to cause them maximum political damage; so much so that some suspicious types might wonder if the strident denunciations routinely displayed on right wing blogs were posted by Democratic moles.
Not that I'm complaining.
Consider, for instance, this model of moderation, a heavily Photoshopped plug for Herman Cain called "Nazi Occupation of Wall Street by liberal fascist parasite bums", posted Monday Free Republic by something called the MaineStateGOP
First, the posted lead-in:
All over America (sic), bums illegal aliens Islamic Jihadists moochers pedophiles drunks addicts anarchists and other low life bottom feeders who make up the scum of society have been rallying and demanding the end of capitalism and freedom and in place a socialist dictatorship (sic). Their unacceptable demands include a 20$ (sic) minimum wage, the collapse of our system, environmental laws, open borders, government restrictions on constitutionally guaranteed free speech/press and gun ownership and solidarity with Islam.With few exception (sic) the police have been quiet and done nothing when these gatherings spread into private property and/or become violent. Nudity, drug activity and public drinking along with loud music (and loud mouth leftwing banter) play a role in these demonstrations.
Here's the YouTube clip itself;
Nice. For comparison, take a look at this mini-documentary, made October 10th by my colleague, video journalist Jessica Vecchione.

A new generation is on the move in America. A generation that is fed up with being force fed political correctness and revisionist history that distort what the left wing in america really stands for. That hide how their value system of no moral absolutes, of atheism/agnosticism and collectivism has decimated humanity especially during the past 200 years in Russia and Germany. G-d Willing we WILL have Herman Cain in the white house or Ron Paul and we will roll back decades of godlessness and marxism. We will return to our founders intent and once again become a beacon on a hill. A standard for nations to follow. ANd in another 200 years when the elitists try again to decieve us and oppress us, another movement of free men shall come again to wipe away the old world and return us once again into a world of we the people, of we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal.
Meanwhile, your film clip was one of the best plugs for OWS, and most effective tools for discrediting the right wing, that I ever saw. Please, keep it up!
BTW--ingratiated? Don't you mean gratified? Delighted? Flattered? I wasn't trying to get on your good side.
One more thing. The GOP is 36% of the electorate; the GOP says 46% of its membership approves of, is part of, or otherwise likes the Tea Party. So at maximum, the Tea Party is about 17% of the electorate. That's not a majority of anything.
You'd know that if you didn't imagine that the Illuminati/Insiders were plotting to take over the world, and that the Soviet Union's most reliable ally during the Cold War was the United States, and apparently don't get that any group that's been plotting to conquor the world for 200+ years, and hasn't succeeded yet, isn't something to worry about.
Most people can look at footage of the protesters and then compare it to these ridiculous over-the-top accounts the right wing is pushing, and decide for themselves what the truth is.
If the right wants to put the final nail in the coffin of their credibility(as if they had any to begin with), then I say let them.
The republicans have a real shot at beating Obama next year. Yet it's looking like they may just let the extremists in their midst push away any and all hope they have of garnering the votes of the rational independent voters they will need to do it.
