Hillary Says She 'Misspoke' About Wrestling Bin Laden
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who has been accused in recent days of padding her foreign policy resume while First Lady, admitted today that she may have exaggerated about an encounter she said she had with al-Qaeda terror mastermind Osama bin Laden in 1998.
In an appearance on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, Sen. Clinton told host Tim Russert, "I wrestled bin Laden in his cave in 1998 and had him pinned to the ground before the bastard got away."
But a review of Sen. Clinton's official White House schedule from that period revealed that the then-First Lady was nowhere in the vicinity of Mr. bin Laden on that day, but was instead greeting a group of honor roll students at Disney World in Orlando.
"I may have misspoke about what went on that particular day," Sen. Clinton said today. "But it was a very busy time for me, what with having that knife-fight with Kim Jong-Il and all."
Reporters peppered Sen. Clinton's new press spokesman with questions about another purported exploit of hers, in which the senator claimed that she and a ragtag team of blue-collar drillers deflected an asteroid on a collision course with the Earth.
"Everything Hillary Clinton says is true," said her new spokesman, the author James Frey.

It's not just Hillary though. It irritates the living hell out of me when politicians (or anyone for that matter) uses the “I have been there” line. You know, that line when a country comes up in a conversation and they say “I have been there”. I was listening Bill Maher (yeah, yeah) on my iPod when some or other politician was using this argument that things are soooo much better in Iraq. You know - he’s “been there”. Hillary's healthcare plan would have passed, had she had enough time to convince congress to pass it. Unfortunately, the Empire had built a Death Star and the Rebellion needed Hillary to pilot an X-Wing fighter and lead the effort to destroy the Death Star. All seemed lost. On her way to the exhaust port, she lost R2 and Darth Vader was closing in. Fortunately, the James Carville swooped down in his Millennium Falcon and gave Hillary a clear shot. Guided by the Force, she was able to destroy the Death Star. Failure of the Health Care plan was insignificant compared to saving the Universe.
During the blue dress incident, Hillary was busy leading a small army of Elves and Rohirrim against an army of Uruk-hai, 10,000 strong. Again all seemed lost, The Uruk-hai had breached the Deeping Wall and Hillary and what remained of her band was forced into the Glittering Caves. Hillary commanded that the horn of King Helm be sounded and she, along with a handful of her closest advisors, charged into the army of Uruk-hai. At that same moment, the remaining Rohirrim, Gandalf and an army of Huorns arrived to help annihalate the Uruk-hai. Had she not been busy saving Middle Earth, Bill might not have sought comfort elsewhere.
Hillary as Leah!! I love it. And you know, I can't seem to fit Obama anywhere except in the Darth Vader forces....

Notice that nobody even bothers to call Bush on his chronic lies. anymore. The whole nation has just tuned him out, crossing off the days until he is out of office.
Seriously! Notice how when he gave his State of the Union address nobody even cared. He can pretty much do whatever at this point. It's kinda scary that nobody's paying attention!
If you see the video when she" misspoked", she looks absolutely convincing. She sure is a great actress. Makes you wonder if every time she opens her mouth she is acting.
This makes it more clear: She was for NAFTA, befores she was against it. She was for the war, before she was against it. She does choose her pastor, that's why she belongs to the Fellowship Prayer Group. I guess she agrees with their agenda, and the company she keeps with this group.

You are making light of her being only the 2nd First Lady in history to be in a war zone.
Let me give you examples of others who thought they were protected:
1. Pat Tillman going to Afghanistan well after the U.S. had penetrated the front lines and was now on Bin-Laden hunting, excursion exercises backed by heavy artillery and the strong U.S. army, he died due to "friendly fire'.
2. Steve Irwin, the croc hunter, he too thought he was swimming in safe waters when struck by a less threatening stingray.
3. NBC reporter David Bloom in Iraq who died of pulmonary embolism, not, even a sniper fire, while reporting during the initial months of the Iraq "war". He had wife and kids, i'm sure he thought he was taking a calculated risk once the initial "shock and awe" was complete, not a crazy risk.
4. Ask Jimmy Carter at the end of his term when he tried his failed Iran hostage rescue when a helicpoter crashed.
5. Sniper fire is no joke, ask Marylanders, Virginians and DC residents when a sniper was lurking in our neighborhoods in 2002.
This was a trip she did not have to make. She could have chosen to attend a LIBRARY OPENING. Now, I'm not comparing her threat to the same levels as some of the ones above, but, A War Zone is a War Zone anything could have happenned.
Drink as much HRC cool-aid as you can stomach.
If it were as dangerous as you imply, then why didn't the local Child Protection Unit seize her 16 year old daughter for child abuse once they returned to Washington? Maybe because they saw the photos of Chelsea smiling at the 8 year old Bosnian girl who welcomed them at the airport, and didn't see anybody ducking bullets.
I have never been under fire, thankfully. But in 1998, my wife was in a group of airline passengers who were held at gunpoint by a squad of Turkish Militia as their baggage was searched for drugs by dope sniffing dogs. Shades of Midnight Express. She assures me It was not the kind of trivial event for which the details dissipate over time. It is as clear in her mind today as it was 10 years ago.
Being under fire is of a different order. I would go so far as to suggest that for HRC to claim with a straight face that she did a double time duck walk across the tarmac dodging sniper bullets demeans those who really do face such circumstances as their job. Like soldiers and police officers. I bet they don't forget a single minute of real live threatening combat.
Her claim, indeed, is the resume padding equivalent of downing 20 Irish Car Bombs at a Harvard Frat party and later inserting on your C.V.:

The 8 year old Bosnian girl "who was not a black boy raised in a single parent home, like Barack was. She was hiding behind MANY military personnel, well protected, waiting to greet the wife of the most powerful person in the world. Call it a photo op for the Bosnian govt. while putting that 8 yr old at risk. You can see empathy, clear astonishment, then, surprise on the faces of Hillary and Chelsea.
Yes, you are indeed also correct that there was not an Indonesian Rickshaw "cab driver whizing past her because of her skin", but, rather a TARMAC FULL OF MILITARY PERSONNEL DRESSED IN MILITARY CLOTHING waiting to protect her from any attack or enemy fire. I don't think those were HALOWEEN COSTUMES and I don't think Hillary was mistaking their green outfits for Hawaiian Pineapple Trees either!
Hillary visited over 80 countries as a first lady including countries like Bosnia that have "Europeans who are rich white people." Obama who at this time was a "po' black man living in a country and culture controlled by rich white people" tried visiting his mother in Indonesia once, but, returned quickly as he missed the many pineapple trees on every street corner in Hawaii and his grandmother who he would later throw under that Pineapple Tree because she made him "cringe". "We don't have choice of our relatives, but, we do have choice of our Pastors" or IMPASTORS!
You're right - anything "could have" happened. But Sen. Clinton claimed something _did_ - and the video evidence doesn't back her up.

You just made a great point, unfortunately it was not the one you intended. The fact that she "misspoke" about dangers as if she was truly facing them with a description that harkens me back to those wonderful Jay Ward cartoons "The world of Commander McBragg" is an insult to those people who died bewcause of dangers they didn't expect to happen. She should be ashamed of herself. And you should be too for even trying to compare her situation the tragedies you just described.
I just saw Hillary in action at a press conference, and when asked to explain her way out of "the Bosnia Experience," she used honesty as a method to purge - her lie. That's a savvy hoodwink if you ask me and one that can only be acquired from years and years of - experience.
Hillary and Chelsea each had an M-16 and a couple of grenades hidden under their flack jackets which were hidden under there outerwear. It's pretty obvious if you look closely at the video.
Think Obama knows how to shoot an M-16? Huh? HUH?
Obama does not know how to shoot a M-16, but McCain can knock down a land to air missle with a fifteen million dollar jet. He can fire his missles while just getting into his fighter jet, costing many lives and millions in damage to his ship.
Now take Hillary, she just can't tell the truth, no matter what. We over all don't really have much of a choice this fall.
Getting shot at is a life-altering experience that gets tattooed in the brain it's impossible to "misspeak" about it!! Lying about one's past or embellishing a resume, now those are something else.

You know, I used to have a lot of respect for Hillary, but her trying to throw the light off of herself and back onto Obama makes me see her in a new light. She got caught in a lie, so she tries to change the subject by trying to throw the light back onto Obama. That was pretty dirty to me. Not once, when he was going through all of that turmoil did he try to deflect to her. Another thing, she has just thrown out there the idea that delegates don't have to vote for the person that they are pledged to. Now, that has gone a little bit far and now I understand why people say that she would do anything to win. But, what she has to realize is that that could go both ways, so be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
Totally right. I have to admit I'm really scared about what these tactics will do for the Dems. She dragged Obama down to her below-McCain rating even though she has less than a 10% chance of getting the nomination. Now I feel stupid for saying there was NO WAY republicans could win in 08.

The fact the author is a comedian should have been posted at the beginning of the article with the admonition that the following is satire, tongue-in-cheek humor and untrue sarcasm so that the voting public revealed by polls and Jay Leno not to be very knowledgeable even about our government won't take it seriously.
While that's not the author's job perhaps, it would be nice if corrections of actual misstatements could be provided for those of us who don't have the time to research every comment. For instance, perhaps Hillary in her recent comments recalled the event correctly but not the location where it took place. Has anyone asked her?
No, because Wolfson has already said she misspoke (lied). If there was more to it he surely would have shared it.
