Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who has been accused in recent days of padding her foreign policy resume while First Lady, admitted today that she may have exaggerated about an encounter she said she had with al-Qaeda terror mastermind Osama bin Laden in 1998.
In an appearance on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, Sen. Clinton told host Tim Russert, "I wrestled bin Laden in his cave in 1998 and had him pinned to the ground before the bastard got away."
But a review of Sen. Clinton's official White House schedule from that period revealed that the then-First Lady was nowhere in the vicinity of Mr. bin Laden on that day, but was instead greeting a group of honor roll students at Disney World in Orlando.
"I may have misspoke about what went on that particular day," Sen. Clinton said today. "But it was a very busy time for me, what with having that knife-fight with Kim Jong-Il and all."
Reporters peppered Sen. Clinton's new press spokesman with questions about another purported exploit of hers, in which the senator claimed that she and a ragtag team of blue-collar drillers deflected an asteroid on a collision course with the Earth.
"Everything Hillary Clinton says is true," said her new spokesman, the author James Frey.

Hillary is not that bad, in fact, after stealing someone's wallet she always sticks around and helps them look for it.
Good One! LOL!
LOL now that is very funny!
Hillary said she had to make the trip (with Sinbad and Cheryl Crow) because it was too dangerous for the president to make the trip. Sinbad responds to this story: President Clinton said, "Yea, it's too dangerous for me, the president, to go into a warzone, so I think I'll send my wife. Just to be safe, take along a guitar player and comedian." LOL
Hillary a.k.a. MacGuyver
This woman is such a freaking liar...what will she say next?? OMG this is so Hillarious!! Her and Bill are both a couple of clowns. How can anyone in their right minds take this candidate/campaign seriously!! It's like Fox News..."We're just joking"
Don't know exactly what would happen to an aircraft commander piloting the First Lady and her daughter into the middle of a firefight, but I'm betting his new career would involve many repetitions of the phrase, "Can I supersize that for you?"
Touche!
Andy I love it! Great piece. This i believe will turn out to be Hillary's '" I invented the Internet" moment.
We can add it to her many Pinnochios including the SCHIP, The Northern Ireland Peace Brokering,
and "I did not promote NAFTA"...for starters. Thanks for the imagery of the "wrestling match of the century" laugh
Except that Al Gore didn't actually say that. Maureen Dowd said that when what Gore actually said was he was the prime sponsor of legislation that gave DARPA the authorization to research the concept of the world wide web, which, unlike what Maureen wrote, also had the virtue of actually being true. Apparently that was too complicated for Maureen, who must have decided it would be too hard to write a cutesy column twice a week with an intelligent, wonky Al Gore as president. So she decided to help Bush by writing that he was "the guy you'd rather have a beer with." She's had a lot easier time coming up with idiotic columns the last seven years because all she has to do is straight reporting. The country is in the tank, but her life was made much easier, which really should be enough for the rest of us to be happy. However, Hillary did actually say this, on tape, with videotape existing that shows it didn't happen. I know all the Hillary supporters are saying that the Rev. Wright tapes being looped by the Republicans make Barack unelectable. Imagine the unelectablity factor of the tape loop of Hillary walking across the tarmack with little girls handing her flowers while her own voiceover detaiis the non-existant sniper fire, et al. All the Republicans have to do is end the commercial with, "I'm John McCain and I approved this ad," and he'll have won the election right there.
here's the dealio:
Whether a first lady or indentured servant, if you are forced to run head-down from a plane into an awaiting vehicle in order to avoid sniper fire, then this is a memory that will stick hard and fast. No ifs, ands or "misspeaks" about it. Is the "honest" Senator using the old Roger Clemens defense of "mis-remembering?"
She lied.
Her daughter Chelsea also lied when she said she backed up her mother's recollections.
The Clintons family will say and do anything for their own political gain. Truth be damned.
Truth be damned indeed. When it comes to the Clintons anyway. When you get a free pass every time you lie/"mis-speak" maybe it isn't her fault that she does it so well. Maybe it is the media, or us, or ........
thanks andy!
Why is it that the woman can do no wrong? Why is any excuse she gives, good enough? No matter what she says or does, as long as there is something she can say (excuses) she is let off the hook. On top of that she is always the victim. She crys that the media is too tough on her, I say that the media is too easy on her. This race isn't even. She has very, very little chance of winning. For the establishment candidate to have so little money at this stage of the game is a sign of things to come.
The media is giving her a free ride.
For example:
Why has it not mentioned her vote on the cluster bomb ban?
This is, after all, a woman who INSISTS that children are out greatest resource.
However, she would not support a ban on a weapon that kills and maims hundreds of kids a year.
Well, I guess if the kids aren't Untied States citizens it doesn't matter.
Oh, by the way, Obama voted FOR the ban.
new verb - to Clinton
Ultimate insult too.
Along with "that depends on what the meaning of is, is".
How about those tax returns? She will release them conveniently after the debate and over the weekend. More curious is that she used to bait Obama into debates and think less of him if he didn't take them. Now that she has commited to her tax release, she doesn't want any debates after the release.
Funny. But I hate the media's phrase, "padding her resume". No. Hillary's outright LIES, over and over. She lied about opposing NAFTA from the beginning. She lied about running from sniper fire in Bosnia. She lied about it "being too dangerous for the President so they sent the First Lady." She lied about her role with Macedonian refugees. She lies when she says she's authored more important legislation than Obama (each of them has authored TWO bills). She lied about Obama on NAFTA and Canada long after the truth was out. The media needs to stop beating up on Rev. Wright's 30 secs. out of context and concentrate on Hillary, in context, telling whopper after whopper and thinking she can get away with it.
I agree, jsinclair.
What are all these euphemisms for lying? People are saying it's a "fish story" You know the fish gets bigger every time you tell the story.
But what there was no fish!
There was no sniper fire!
She made it up.
And in plain english, that's called LYING.
So, let's not call it an embellishment or padding her resume, or a fish story or exaggeration.
You can't pad and exaggerate what isn't there!
This is yet another example in the long list of the Clintons making stuff up.
Anyone who's dumb enough to believe it deserves it.
Exactly! Just as when the Bush Regime was pushing for the Iraq Invasion. Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney, ALL ot them, constantly telling LIE after LIE after LIE, 24/7, in print, on television and radio, and NOBODY called them on it.
"Bush 'mis-spoke'", Cheney "exaggerated", Rice "suggested", Rumsfeld "believed", ad nauseum.
It wasn't until the damage was done and the MSM was shown to have assisted Bush Inc. in run-up to the illegal "war" that they began finally speaking the truth and blubbering that we were "lied into the war" - in order to obscure the fact of their(MSM) complicity.
Just as we have now.
Why is it that if Hillary lies......it's accepted as she misspoke? Is this just because she was the First Lady ? ....her husband lied too......or did he missspeak when he denied the whole episode with Monica ?
Remeber the SNL skit?
Much ado about nothing, i.e. a non-issue. Did she lie that she was actually in Bosnia? Embellishments to any story are a dime a dozen. I can embellish something for effect, but it doesn't make me a liar.
What? To make up whole scenarios that never existed is not lying? - So, according to you then she could of said that she took a bullet, had to jump over a tank to avoid a grenade and saved 10 soldiers from getting killed along the way - Then according to you since it is true that she was in Bosnia, the made up scenario is not a big deal and NOT a lie.
You can spin this one all you want, at the end and in conclusion you still have the same result, which is that she is a "Liar".
To "embellish" is to add detail - not to fabricate it. Look it up in the dictionary!!
No, it's not lying.
It's called "being delusional" which usually will put you under the care of a qualified psychiatrist and under medication. Or, at the very worst, get you a room with a padded cell.
It SHOULD NOT get you into the oval office.
So true. I myself heroically stopped a bank robbery yesterday at gunpoint. Oh, wait. Actually I was just IN the bank yesterday. Oh well. Using the Clinton Principle, my outright lie is "close enough" to the truth anyway (both using the word "bank"), I'm sure.
Yes - it does.
Hillary has a history of similar flights of fancy. It's reminiscent of her claim to be named after Sir Edmund Hillary. HRC was born in 1947, Hillary's Mount Everest climb was in 1953.
Sorry, that just won't float. There is quite a differance from getting off the plane onto red carpet and flowers as opposed to ducking snipers bullits. It reminds me of a time when people picked cotton by hand and 100lbs.a day was pretty good. This guy was bragging about pisking 200lbs. a day.He was doing fine untill he fell off that bar stool.
How can Hillary consistantly NOW say she MISSPOKE. The PREPARED SPEECH is still available on Hillary's website------under "Newsroom-Speeches" entitled-"IRAQ: Hillary's Remarks at The George Washingon University. When will the DELIBERATE misleading end?
