It was an eerie foreshadowing of things to come perhaps. Former vice president Dick Cheney, at President Barack Obama's inauguration, looking an awful lot like a cross between the Grim Reaper and Mr. Potter, the sinister banker from the classic film It's a Wonderful Life.
Well, he hasn't disappointed. The world's most infamous dick proved yet again that he never tires of scaring the bajesus out of Americans. The human Orange-Alert gravely warned that because of Obama's policies there's a "high probability" that the United States faces "a 9/11-type event where the terrorists are armed with something much more dangerous than an airline ticket and a box cutter - a nuclear weapon or a biological agent of some kind" targeting a major city. Boo!
Cheney warned that the proposed closing of the Guantanamo prison, along with greater restrictions and limitations on interrogation tactics, puts the nation at severe risk of terrorist attack: "The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected. Sometimes, that requires us to take actions that generate controversy. I'm not at all sure that that's what the Obama administration believes."
It seems Darth Vader believes the Obama team's simply gonna sit arm-in-arm with our enemies and sing Kumbaya while America's targeted for a horrific attack: "When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry."
Let it be known for the record that the biggest terror attack in U.S. history occurred on Cheney and Bush's watch, and that acts of terrorism around the world increased significantly while those two fear mongers were at the controls. Lastly, that seven years passed since the 9-11 attacks is not necessarily something Americans should rest assured by. Keep in mind it was eight years between the 1993 and 2001 World Trade Center attacks. Maybe it's still a bit too early for Cheney's self-aggrandizing.
Cheney defended the harsh tactics he and his former boss employed in the war on terror. Protecting America is "a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business," Cheney asserted. "These are evil people. And we're not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek."
And he ought to know. He's the toughest, meanest, dirtiest, nastiest most evil person to ever hit Washington.

What is the deal with Cheney?
Why would he continue too want to instill fear in the heart and mind of American citizens?
Does he not yet realize that it will not change the fact that Barack Obama, was elected President.
I just don't understand his reason for wanting people to live with fear. Which by the way the majority of us do not have.
Destiny will play itself out according to the Universal Law, no matter what.
Too "dick" those of us who understand this, have no fear.
cheney has always been a dick. Why would he change now? A little jail time will losen him up.
DICK, you had the World's support to go after bin Ladin. He got away. Your tactics aren't working. GO AWAY!
Bitter old man with a bitter mind! It seems like he is having trouble "letting go"
We don't need bitter rain spreading to the masses. He should shut up, and go away! Nobody needs his bitterness, and negative remarks.
I don't think Dick Cheney is, "... the toughest, meanest, dirtiest, nastiest most evil person to ever hit Washington ."
'
I KNOW he is a "cowardly bully, who abuses people while 'under the cover of Authority.
In short, the worst kind of bully.
So Mr. Cheney, as well as the Bush admin., have set out to undermine all laws by claiming that releasing "detainees" is dangerous and will lead to another attack, but this time with bio/chem weapons.
However, holding people without charges, trials, access to lawyers, family or evidence against for years under brutal conditions is highly illegal and will most likely radicalize them if they weren't before. Or, it will radicalize their family and friends and third parties, especially if they die under our control.
Invading and occupying Iraq and destroying the county didn't help to win hearts and minds in the Arab and Muslim world, either.
If we can't charge them with anything, we have to do the legal thing and let them go. If we are attacked again, it won't be because we had let them go according to international law, it'll be because they became radicalized under the Bush admins' illegal conditions.
But how could Cheny have forgotten so soon that it was the Bush Aministration that released those dangerous detainees? Obama hasn't released anyone??? Your point, Dick?
Inspite of the efforts of Mr Cheney, I will never live in fear due to the threat of terrorism. Doing this is playing right into the hands of terrorists Mr Cheney and Bin Laden. Maybe they will kill me tomorrow, I still don't think its worth giving the executive branch dictorial power. Sorry Mr Cheney, you need to be quiet and go back to trying to start wars for Halliburton from behind the scenes. But to bad, we are on to your warmonger ways.
Can we wheel him to The Hague?
Every time dick tries to spew his garbage from now on - we should speed his voice up so he sounds like what he really is a frightened, squeaking, nipping, little mouse.
This is not news.
Remember all of those movies in the 1980s about the Colombian drug
cartels which were set to launch terror attacks and take over the U.S.?
Whatever happened to those guys? Or was that all just movie plots?
Yes, 9-11 was real, but I feel as though Chain-ee, et al had played that
up to a fever pitch, in order to stay in power and reduce the U.S.
Constitution into toilet paper. As for the torture of prisoners: what sort
of example does this set for the rest of the world? That is, if we do it,
others will be justified in doing it. We are supposed to lead by example,
because we are (supposed to be) the good guys, Mr Chain-ee.
Hardly surprising that the dick has resurfaced. Bush, cheney and Rumsfeld are a wicked bunch who have proven yet again that fear begets anger which begets aggression etc. Cheney is a vile person indeed and as a non-american I breathed a sigh of relief when he and his mob were voted out.
I wish french agents would come and take them away in the night.
Perhaps the President should consider a cautious approach. Empty Gitmo, rename it "Dick's Place" and keep at least one cot around in the event Cheney goes completely psycho.
Thanks for the laugh, Maxbyte! You've got an EXCELLENT suggestion here!
Cheney to his grandchildren at bedtime: Good night. Sleep tight. The thing under your bed is going to gettcha before morning.
Why did he sound like one of the characters from Michael Jackson's Thriller Album? Cheney and Rush need to become roomates. Both are doom prophets!
they can't be roommates. It's against cheney's 'principles' to bunk with a gay guy
