Kudos to Barney Frank

The Town Hall Health Care Crazies are still out in full force, disrupting and hijacking these events and putting elected officials on the hot seat. But not at Rep. Barney Frank's gathering in Massachusetts Tuesday night. Frank, the biggest bad ass in Washington, issued a glorious and long-overdue smack down of some fringe lunatic who compared President Barack Obama's health-care reform to the policies of Nazi Germany.

..."My question to you is, why do you continue to support a Nazi policy?" the woman asked Frank.

"On what planet do you spend most of your time?," an incredulous Frank rhetorically replied, indignantly adding "You stand there with a picture of the president defaced to look like Hitler and compare the effort to increase health care to the Nazis....Trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it."

Bravo, Barney. Frank's our new Congressional hero. It's about time someone stood up to these belligerent, ignorant freaks and simply told them to fuck off. He's the only politician so far who's refused to dignify this hate-filled, incendiary nonsense with a reply. I'm sorry, but these Town Hall meetings are not a forum of entitlement, where vile rebel-rousers have an inalienable right to bitch-slap politicians and waste their time with inflammatory crazy-speak. What Frank did today was poetic justice and should be a lesson-learned for other politicians facing these angry mobs of malicious misanthropes.

Barney Frank is among my heros for saying what so many of us are thinking about these right-wing nut-jobs!

Barney Frank is supposed to listen to the concerns of the American People and to take them very seriously. This woman is concerned and she has good reason to be. Barney Frank is one of the principal orchestrators of the Fannie Mae debacle that is 30%-50% responsible for the whole financial crisis here in the US.

Larry Summers, a key part of the new Obama administration is the single key orchestrator of the de-regulation of banking which caused the rest of the financial crisis. The track record of those in power are absolutely absymal. Of course we should be concerned and of course Barney Frank should address the issues. There is every reason to believe that it is possible that these people can utterly destroy this country and that actually, judging by their track record, they most likely will unless poeple stand up.

You edited out the best part "...it is a tribute to the first amendment that vile and contemptible comments like yours can be so freely circulated..."

These morons think they are being forced to live in socialism, fascism...yet they don't know the meaning of the words. They are lucky they live in one of the freest democracy in the world.

What are you referring to? Do you have a link to something that covers this meeting more completely? (I haven't found any)

If Democrats are going to continue to have these ridiculous town hall meetings (which really serve no purpose), they need to be trained on how to respond to these ignornant, hate-filled republicans. Most of them have no clue.

Fantastic! Great! Well-done!
And if Rush makes a joke about Congressman Frank's sexual orientation, perhaps the congressman could make a joke about Rush's WEIGHT.

I find that these 'nut' jobs don't care about health care reform. What bothers them is the fact that we have a man of color in the White House.
Kudos to you Rep. Frank, keep up the good fight!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Barney Frank. Would that all our Democrat representatives/senators had such a well wielded wit.

As soon as someone utters the word "nazi" they should be ridiculed and dismissed. Congressman Frank did it beautifully.
10:25 AM on 08/20/2009
But how would Democrats communicate with each other?
11:14 AM on 08/20/2009
Right. They should use the term "National Socialist" because his policies mirror that of the National Socialist party of the 30's.

Once 'Nazi' is spoken, that should be the end of any attempt to communicate. Obviously, those who throw that word around are seriously uneducated.
Good for Barney!

Finally someone stood up to these crazy people. Faux News, of course, being "fair and balanced," only showed Frank's response to the woman questionner, not her question where she asked way he was supporing "Nazi Health Care." If you listen to her, you understand his frustration. It was obvious that she was not going to be able to understand anything Frank said, she had just taken in all the lies on the Faux News, and its subparts (teabaggers, etc.).
