AMSTERDAM - Brightcove, the big global provider of video management and delivery services, has launched its first stand-alone video player, which is the "fastest" to load, says David Mendels, CEO in this interview with Beet.TV

He states that the Brightcove player is the second most widely used video player, after Google's YouTube.

While the video player is pervasive as part of its customers' integrated solutions, the new product allows companies with their own system to use Brightcove's free-standing player API. It's the company's first player-only product offering. The product is called Brightcove Perform.

In the interview, Mendels speaks about accelerated device fragmentation for video consumption and the challenges and opportunities this brings to the industry.

We spoke with him yesterday at he IBC Show in Amsterdam.
