There are some amazing books to look forward to in the first quarter of 2011! There won't be a better book of fiction all year than Rana Dasgupta's Solo, and Colm Toibin, one of the world's master storytellers, is out with an incredible new story collection, The Empty Family. Look for the selected poems of Michael McClure, a poet who's been writing for 50 years and deserves more attention, and the selected poems of Tadeusz Rozewicz. As we head into the third year of the financial crisis, a number of books offer necessary perspectives on global economics, financial regulation, and the balance of power heading into the future. There is a Humphrey Bogart biography, Joyce Carol Oates's memoir on widowhood, Andre Dubus's memoir, a book on the gospel of Oprah, a J. D. Salinger biography, and books on the continuing chaos in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

If J. Hoberman's new book reads anything like "Bridge of Light", it'll be great! That's the one which stood out the most to me. I'm really looking forward to it, Jim!
Patrick Rothfuss' next is due in the Spring, however, so there's something to look forward to, in that vein.
Guess Rothfuss is the biggest Fantasy book for 2011. I'm ready for it!
Not sure how these were picked but I doubt if these selections are the most anticipated books of the year by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm looking forward to Patrick Lee's sequel to "The Breach", called "Ghost Country. New novels by A. Lee Martinez, Robert Charles Wilson, Robert J. Sawyer, Dean Koontz, Daniel H. Wilson's "Robopocalypse", Richard K. Morgan's "The Cold Commands", Dan Simmons' "Flashback", Chris Roberson and Mike Allred's "iZombie", Preston and Child's new books, Patrick Rothfuss, Chris Evans' Iron Elves sequel, Paul Malmont's sequel to "The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril", as well as keeping up with the new release from Marvel and DC comics.
Personally, I'm not much of a TV watcher so reading is my prime entertainment. I like to escape into another world. Not all "important" books are doomy and gloomy.
