Anshuman Rawat is a South Asia Observer & Analyst and a serial media entrepreneur who aims at playing an active role in the development and spread of society-oriented media convergence.

As a South Asia Commentator, he pays special emphasis on issues related to Development-Oriented Economy, Foreign Policy, Security Situations and Human Rights in the South Asian / SAARC region – apart from writing analytical pieces on the current Geo-Political happenings of the region. As an extension of his work on the region, he presently also writes a Weekly blog on SAARC: Conflict & Cooperation in South Asia for Foreign Policy Blogs, a division of Foreign Policy Association (Est. 1918), New York.

Making use of his exposure to and understanding of the region, he is presently writing a book on the economy and future of the region. Entitled ‘Towards South Asian Economic Union: Despite and Because of the Realpolitik‘, the book would be out early next year.

Born, perhaps, with an entrepreneurial streak, this middle-class boy from a family of scientists and (software) engineers pulled out of the distinguished flow and floated his own film production house (‘The Lotus Eaters’); and went ahead to write, produce and direct one of India’s earliest English feature films on digital format A.O.D. (a.k.a. The Art of Dying) by the time he was only 26 years old.

Three years later, he formed a media start-up (‘Rawat Media Private Limited’) to give shape to his dreams of having an all-encompassing organisation that would create quality products in the fields of cinema, publishing, online media, television and event management.

The new company saw him launch Ahmedabad’s (India’s 7th largest city) only RNI approved general interest English monthly magazine, League; Ahmedabad’s only social networking site of the time Kitli; an online newspaper The Indic Post; a Hindi novel Peepal ke Patte (Author: Shambhu Dayal) etc.

Presently, apart from his consultancy activities, a good part of his work hours are spent as the Founder & Principal Project In-Charge of League of India SocioCorp (LISC), a Society--Centric Media Venture for Promotion of Liberal Governance, Economy and Society in India, representing a center-right liberal ideology that supports political & socio-cultural liberalism and a free economy. He is also the Executive Editor of LISC's mouthpiece and flagship news, resource & information portal League of India.

In a career spanning over 12 years, he has made his mark in myriad roles of a Filmmaker (writer-producer-director), an author (Twice Shy – Screeplay; I am Ahmedabad – Collection of Short Stories), a Managing Editor (League – Print Magazine; The Indic Post – Internet Newspaper), an Executive Editor (Construction Journal of India, StonEdge India, Indian Plumbing Today, Structural and Engineering Design), a (Hindi) Film Reviewer etc. He also has his poetry published in an international collection and has composed the entire original soundtrack (lyrics and music) of one of his forthcoming films.

He specialises in communication design, spanning across all the media and sectors – with creating ‘action inducing’ (or, strictly in the positive sense, provocative) communication being his core passion. At the same time, his long entrepreneurial experience has equipped him well to handle teams from creative, marketing and human resources perspectives. He has now gradually started putting his experience with people to good effect in creating projects that would have a direct bearing on the society.

A qualified Civil Engineer (Geo-Technical Engineering), he can these days be mostly be found at the drawing board, developing a new international (economy & development oriented) magazine and an annual conclave on global India’s policy matters.

As the span and reach of his activities grow, this South Asia Pro hopes to play a part in developing and spreading communication and media (including action group activities) initiatives in making a difference to life around us.
