Who says kids can't appreciate high style? In the playroom of decorator Laura Santos's Manhattan home, the children's chairs are by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, the sofa is by Ligne Roset, the teak cabinetry is by Poliform, and the curtains and pillows are made of a Clarence House fabric.

Architect Benedikt Bolza designed this rustic playroom with exposed wood beams for his five children at the family's home in Umbria, Italy.

In her Manhattan duplex, designed by David Mann of MR Architecture + Design, magazine editor Darcy Miller Nussbaum created a whimsical mural, at left, for her daughters' playroom. Streamlined furnishings are paired with a floor-to-ceiling collage of family photos and a rug custom made by Judy Ross Textiles.

The owners of this Litchfield County, Connecticut, residence installed a Sol LeWitt wall drawing in the game room, which also features an Inigo ceiling light and various games tables.

Patricia and Carolina Lansing play Ping-Pong in the large room of the boathouse at the family's Maine getaway. Playful furniture made from reused tires is arranged in front of a large window with views of the dock house and the water. The white walls provide a backdrop for an assortment of Maine treasures, including buoys and vintage moorings.

In adman Donny Deutsch's Manhattan townhouse, the playroom has a Ron Arad for Moroso sofa and chairs, cupcake seats by Jellio, and a smiling Takashi Murakami cloud; the painting in the niche is by David Deutsch, Donny's father, and the cowhide rug is from Patterson, Flynn & Martin.

In a Southampton, New York, home, the playroom's ceiling and walls are by painter Haleh Atabeigi. The hanging lantern is by John Rosselli & Assoc., and the pillow-back ottoman in the foreground is upholstered in a fabric from Lee Jofa.

Fashion designer Jenni Kayne's laid-back Los Angeles home, crafted by architecture firm Standard, was designed with family in mind. In son Tanner and daughter Ripley's playroom, pint-size furnishings and a petite teepee mingle with custom-made storage cabinets, which house baskets filled with toys.
