When I caught up with Amy Sedaris at the New York premiere of Snow Angels she looked like she was ready to take the whole press corps over her knee and tell them to stop asking her so many goddamn questions, but she graciously agreed to answer mine as long as I was the last to ask her any.
1) How are you dealing with Ricky's death?
"Ricky didn't really die, I just said that so people would stop asking about him..." Ouch "...and so I could have the option of living with his ghost."
2) Is there anything funny about kidnapping children?
"It's hilarious!" She laughed. "There's something funny in everything. I'm drawn to more serious stuff. I don't have the acting skills for it, but I'd always rather see something dramatic."
3) What best prepared you for this role?
"Working in restaurants. My character works in a Chinese restaurant, and I've worked in a ton of them."
4) What most qualifies you to dole out advice for The Believer?
"Having a love for other people's problems. I love listening to them as long as they're not mine. That's why I love In Treatment. Have you seen the sixth episode?"
No, not yet. She looks really disappointed.
5) Who are you rooting for in tonight's primaries?
I'm a Democrat, let's leave it at that.
