The Message Board: My Dress

Giulia Rozzi | Bio

I got married last year. I very much looked forward to having a huge drunken formal party where my dad footed the bill. I loved getting lots of fancy kitchen appliances that a year later I have yet to use. And I of course, LOVE that I am on my husbands health insurance.

I hated however, being a bride. I mean I was a cool bride. A very cool laid back bride. A very cool bride with hobbies other than getting married. A very cool bride who drank copious amounts of vodka and passed out in her hotel room bathroom wearing nothing but her veil.

But not all brides are awesome like me. While planning my wedding I visited a wedding message board to look for wedding venue suggestions. What I found were some of the most pathetic discussions amongst some very very very uncool brides.

We all know uncool, brides. The brides that force their best friends to blow $300 on a sinfully retarded bridesmaid dress just so she can outshine her ugly cavalcade of taffeta-wearing puppets. The brides that compare and judge engagement ring size the same way immature loser boys compare dick size. The brides who seem more in love with their wedding then the person they are marrying. The brides that wake up the morning after their honeymoon with horrible post-wedding-syndrome blues forcing them to talk incessantly about their "special day" for years and then wonder why the "love of their life" is filing for divorce. The brides that make people hate brides.

So instead of focusing on the planning of my own wedding, I focused on making fun of the women on those message boards who were planning their wedding, talking about their wedding, obsessing over their wedding. I noted my favorite most pathetic conversations and then re-enacted those convos on film in a monthly video series I call "The Message Board" Enjoy!
