The Vast Right Conspiracy: Beating a Dead Horse |
So we have twenty-one days left and I already feel like I am living in a Stalinist state. Here we have the party that is supposed to be all about tolerance, building bridges and open mindedness about to take the reins, if you listen to the government-owned media channels, and yet if we on the right even dare ask a question about Obama's associations and past we are shouted down with cries of racist and worse.
I'm not trying to change minds at this point; in fact I can't believe there are still people who haven't decided yet. The difference between our two parties is the greatest it has been since Ronald Reagan sent Jimmy Carter off to build houses for the poor and crank out his anti-Semitic crap.
I am going to challenge my enlightened, progressive readers to try something really difficult. Put aside your unbridled idol worship for King Barack and reach deep down into your intellectual honesty and admit there is a double standard in the way the media questions the two men running for the right to screw up traffic where ever they go. I want you to look without emotion for a moment at what it would be like if a man from a different ethnic background was running and had done some of the things Obama had done.
Let's say there was a guy from the south side of Chicago running for president but instead of being African-American he had a last name that ended in a vowel. This candidate goes to a Catholic Church where they still say Mass in Latin and the priest gives sermons about how America had deserted God and was an instrument of evil for allowing abortion. He has a friend that kicked off his campaign for Alderman several years ago who had been a reputed mob hitter and had once beat a rap for murder. Some of his early financing had come from well know Chicago political figures with ties to organized crime. Do you think the New York Times would do an article or two about this man's associations? Do you thing folks on he left would be screaming about how who you do business with isn't important?
Ok, maybe that's not fair so let's look at another example. Let's imagine there is a politician not from the south side of Chicago but from the deep South. He's a decent guy especially when it comes to matters of race. Being born and raised in the South he knows history the importance of the Civil Rights movement. Even though he is a conservative he has a record on race issues any liberal would be proud to show around. Then one day he is at a birthday party for an old man who was a segregationist and Klan member much like Robert Byrd (D-WV) and he says a few kind words about this old man. The big time elite media guys go nuts and ignoring his lifetime of work all but hounds him out of politics. Fair treatment, who's to say?
I know I am beating a dead horse with you lefties but as long as I still have some first amendment rights left I will ask, Mr. Obama what exactly is your relationship with Bill Ayers? Will you ever publicly denounce him? How is it you bought a house you couldn't possible afford? Why did Tony Rezko help you get such a sweetheart deal? Why did you start wearing a flag pin is you didn't think it necessary? Why didn't you stand by your principle? There's more I'd like to ask but there is an old saying that even a stupid dog will walk away if you kick him enough.

It's easy to be small-government -- I certainly don't claim to like the idea of government spending. Who does? But one thing I never understood about the "right" is their support of close to $1 trillion of taxpayer money to invade a non-threatening, sovereign nation, while spending a tiny amount to help the less fortunate here at home gets them riled up.
Oil -- yes, you can get oil w/o destroying the environment, but we're past the point of diminishing returns on that. Another thing I don't understand about the "right" -- obsession with oil. Oil is our primary source of energy *only* because it's cheap. There's nothing magical about it. Replacing it with new forms of energy will not actually end up being particularly difficult.
Sep. of church and state -- sounds like we're in fundamental disagreement here. I certainly don't like the idea of the state sanctioning certain religions. Organized religion is the cause of almost every war ever waged, and the cause of the vast majority of human suffering over the course of history. Of course it has some good points too, but what doesn't?
Progressive taxes -- we have the most advanced standard of living in the history of the planet. I find it difficult to get riled up about paying a few percent more if I can afford it.
Abortion -- Goes back to sep. of church and state. Your religious view may be that life begins at conception. Don't impose the views of your particular religion on me.
Thanks again, and good luck in Michigan.

So, from what I can discern from your rant, you're a right-winger and therefore don't like Obama. Fair enough. Why not leave it at that, instead of trying to dig up nonexistent "character flaws?" The tide seems to be against you here: people seem to want to base their votes on policy this time around, not on swiftboat tactics.
One nugget from your rant -- being pro-choice means being against individual liberty? And you're calling ME logically challenged?
So, getting back to issues -- if you're as far right as you claim, you're presumably against Miranda rights, against abortion, for (Christian?) prayer in schools, for the Iraq occupation, for tax policy that favors the wealthy, for destroying the environment to squeeze out the last few drops of oil, etc. How do you reconcile this with your claim to support "liberty?"
If you are a Christian (am I assuming too much?), then to paraphrase you, how about you take a look at Karl Marx's 10 points and then explain to me how your deity of choice (or is it his son? I get confused) is not a Marxist?

Why are you are all for seperation of church and state until it comes to helping the poor, charity, loving your neighbor.
Quick answers Miranda - ok idea but to let scum walk because a cop didn't tell a suspect his rights?
Abortion- Life the number ne right from which all others flow, without life the point of the rest
Iraq- Good idea bad execution, we should have taken oil for payment of our expense. A idea your guy recently advanced
Tax policy- Why not a system that is fair to everybody I pay 28 percent to fed, 15 perent ss and medicare 7 percent to stae and 2.5 % to city plus sales and property taxes
All toll my tax is almot 60% of what I make I just need to know what my "fair" share is
Oil- I think you can take oil out of the earth without ruining the environemt I have been to the north slope of Alaska and it is no toxic waste zone.
I know this next one is unpopular but yeah, Christian prayer or Jewish prayer, or how about a nice non denominational thanks be to God. I don't want to condesend but we all (Jews Christians and Muslims) pray to the God of Abraham. Look that is what the roots of the country is (That is bad grammer but I am in a hurry as I am in the middle of a forest in MIchigan getting ready to perform at a corp function)
I have traveled quite a bit and when I was in Thailand or China I never expected for the majority of the population
The rebuttal about personal liberty and choice went by me, sorry.

As to the issues if Obama is elected let me know when he gets us out of Iraq and we all get our Goverment health care equal to his and McCain's. Let me know when he gets Osama like he said he would. Let me know when he lowers all of our taxes except those "rich" people. Let me know the first time Obama reaches out to the right wing in this country for any reason other than funding. Call me to attend the ribbon cutting at the first nuclear power plant he allows to be built. Show me the first drop of new oil he allows us to take out of the ground.
While we are on the issues how about you take a look at Karl Marx's 10 points and then explain to me how BHO is not a marxist.

Or is this an attempt at distraction from, you know, "issues?"
McCain has already dropped this "guilt by association" tack. Perhaps you should follow suit? I'm sure McCain has a new tactic (or, as he says, "strategy") that you could rationalize?

I agree w/ you. Who a politician associates with is fair game. It's not racist or sexist. W/ that in mind...
I'm still waiting for an indepth analysis of Sarah Palin for "associating" w/ successionist (like her husband)... whose leader was trying to buy explosives when he was killed (thank goodness he died BEFORE he could copy Bill Ayers)... Not to mention the fact that just this year she sent a video message to their convention encouraging them to "keep up the good work" (wonder what she meant by that). I am also waiting for the media to talk about McCain's association w/ convicted criminal G. Gordon Liddy, who McCain himself called a good friend. Some friend for a politician to have... wouldn't you say??
Maybe you weren't paying attention since the Republican primary was all but over after New Hampshire... but Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright and Tony Rezco (whose trial was going on at the time) and their associations w/ Barack Obama were pretty well covered during the primary.

Look my point is the the MSM has been hands off since day one with BHO
I have said this before if BHO were a white guy he would be Dennis Kucinich
How do you know those things about Palin? They were on CBS, NBC, ABC, in the NYT etc.
How do we know anything about BHO? Talk radio! Where is the government controled media on that story?
Where is ABC, CBS and NBC on Jesse Jackson's recent "zionist" statements? Where are they on reporting the cozy relationship between BHO and Louis Farrakhan. Answer: Nowhere! Meanwhile a "newswriter" on this site tries to imply that Sarah Palin is an anti-semite for being a devout Christian, PLEASE!
Thanks you for supporting my point
See my blog tomorrow about all of BHO's friends
