The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy: We Support Obama! |
The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is announcing that it is now supporting Barack Obama. Not supporting him would make us look bad and even thought we are far right wing nut jobs we still like to cut una bella figura.
So we are taking a page from the anti-war crowd who didn't want to support the war in Afghanistan or Iraq from day one but didn't want to seem un-American or repeat the leftist mistake of Viet Nam and spit on soldiers as they returned from battle. So someone on the left, and I wish I could give them credit because this was truly brilliant, came up with the phrase, "We support the troops but not the war."
The real brilliance of this phrase is that it sounds great but means absolutely nothing. I support mechanics but not fixing cars! I support the auto bailout but not giving them money. I support doctors but not healing people. I support congress as long as they don't make any new laws. Maybe that's a good one.
You can't support someone and not support the work they do. It's empty and meaningless. Try looking across the room at the one you love and saying, "I support you but not all that silly stuff you call your life." You may get more than a size ten shoe or two flung at you.
So, The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is supporting Obama, just not all his policies, core values or legislative agenda.

I am a little surprised to find out that Laura Bush was in fact supportive of George W. Bush's self-destructive alcoholism. Or is she secretly a fellow Bush-hater? This is a little confusing. It is very impressive to find out that you, Mr. Jena, would be totally cool with your spouse cheating on you. That is so progressive of you, but not surprising when you consider the sheer intellectual rigor and honesty and unquestionable logic with which you came to this conclusion (and the other gems you've posted here).
But I am disappointed to find out that you hate America. After all, if you don't support all of the policies and actions of the US government, you clearly are some kind of anti-American, terrorist-loving, Muslim atheist queerosexual. This has been well-established over the last eight years by talk radio and FOX News. Even (only) a five-year-old special needs child can follow this logic. So, for the sake of consistency, let's denounce all of those who oppose the government for the next eight years.
