Experts: MySpace Suicide Conviction May Have Chilling Effect on Evil Douchebags

Lee Stranahan | Bio

The conviction of Missouri evil douchebag Lori Drew on three counts of accessing a computer without authorization could have the unintended effects of slowing or even stopping similar evil douchebaggery by other douchebags who planned to do evil, say experts in both the emerging field of cyberlaw and older science of bags of douche. Drew had helped her daughter Sarah - who has been diagnosed with a common juvenile form of evil douchebaghood - torment a neighbor girl until she committed suicide.

"I'm sure this wasn't the jury's intent but this ruling could make a normal computer think twice about hoaxing neighbor kids until they commit suicide" said Carl Burgermeister, an expert on cyberlaw who has both a law degree and two year subscription to Wired magazine. He warned, "I warn you! This won't just effect MySpace users. It also could extend to users of LinkedIn who falsely offer people high paying jobs and then laugh at them when they quit their old job, sell their home and move across the country...and that is one excellent prank that this jury just made a lot less excellent.

Ms. Drew's lawyers were unavailable for comment as they were busy cashing her check.
