For those of you who can't get enough of the Alaskan Governor, these must be special times indeed. But consider the notion that there are other things to discuss than the daily comings and goings of The Divine Miss P.

Some of them may even be relevant to our country's future! For example:

1) The bailout of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. So long to years of "yes, you can afford a luxury home even though you're jobless and still paying off that Playstation 3!" Hello to financial giants being rewarded for similar fiscal stupidity! Still, it's better than the alternatives.



2) The future of the Department of Homeland Security. Who doesn't love the DHS, what with their wire-tapping and color-coded alert systems. Do we scrap the thing altogether? Or could a little refinement do us all some good?

3) Electric cars! Amazing how once we stopped buying their Hummerized monsters, the Big Three began making amazing breakthroughs in the development of fuel-efficient cars. What timing! Maybe it's time for the big fellas to take a break and let someone else take a stab at the future of personal transportation?

4) Beat the meatles? Boy, we eat a lot of meat. Some say it's bad for our bodies -- the UN says

5) Jihad 2.0 Seems Al Qaeda operatives are tired of the "suicide" part of suicide bombing. The next wave of terrorism just got more sophisticated.

6) One in 7 of us doesn't have health insurance. Think you don't pay for that, one way or another? But nationalized health care is socialism! Or worse - Canada! Is there another way?

7) My fantasy football team. Who can think about Sarah Palin when trying to decide between Lawrence Maroney or Tony Gonzalez for this week's flex play? C'mon people can we please focus on what's important for a change?
