British Colonialism Dictionary

Michael Drucker | Bio

Oh boy, Britain! You think just because you made Fawlty Towers back in the day, you can just say anything? Well Americans love humor they think they almost understand as much as the next country, but now you guys have gone too far!

Prince Andrew is something of a nerd--the Blue Ranger of the royal family, if you will--and recently came under some fire for criticizing America's incredible lack of historical knowledge when it comes to rich countries going to poor countries, taking all they have, and then feeling guilty about it. What Prince Andrew didn't expect was that Americans also don't really understand big S.A.T. phrases like "colonialism" or "passive/aggressive genocide." Am I right, ladies? This guy knows what I'm talking about!

So for the sake of the Americans who were offended by Prince Andrew's history lesson, here is a translation of what he said in a more easily digestible form.

Original:

If you are looking at colonialism,

Translation:

When you get all up in some country's shit,

Original:
If you are looking at operations on an international scale,

Translation:

And you look at all that be going down in other places not here,

Original:

If you are looking at understanding each other's culture,

Translation:

And you try to see why they get so mad when you punch their women,

Original:

Understanding how to operate in a military insurgency campaign,

Translation:

Trying to keep them from all bombing you because you done gone bomb them first,

Original:

We have been through them all,

Translation:

Harry Potter Land has done it and woken up next to it the next morning.

Original:

We've won some, lost some, drawn some

Translation:

We got us a 2, 2, and 2 record, kid.

Original:

The fact is, there is quite a lot of experience over here which is valid and should be listened to.

Translation:

Look at what we did and don't do that.
