You're now a Fan of nickula.
Lovely to hear from you after so long. I hope you"re well.
I"m flattered to be described as an "enlightened progressive", even if the inverted commas suggest this correspondence will spiral into ironies of such Byzantine complexity that neither of us may recover.
However, that"s how the interplay of perception and reality seems to be evolving in this best of all possible post-modern worlds. (I hope my use of the word "evolving" is not offensive. Surely if God had not meant us to use it, he would not have created it.)
The vileness and rudeness you infer was entirely coincidental; it was purely the euphonic balance of the sentence that appealed to me. I would no more presume to meddle in the internal affairs of another country than would the United States.
Having said that, it is thrilling that a mere nightclub performer in London might create an electoral backlash and become the Ralph Nader or the Florida voting machine of the 2008 campaign simply by inadvertently insulting one of the parties.
In which case, let the unintended slur stand. For - if I am being honest - I want a man in the White House who bases foreign policy on the unimpeachably sound principle of parodying Beach Boys lyrics.
Let the gratuitous insult of a fine politician, hockey mom and literary critic work against itself! And fuck that pro-gun-control crypto-islamo-fascist Obama and his East Coast city-slicker drug-baron boyfriend running mate too.

I want to thank you for heeding my call for all "enlightened pogressives" to be as vile and rude to Governor Palin as possible. Your simple joke, while clever in it's word play, shows some underlying hostility not only to Gov. Palin and Sen. Clnton but to women in general.
It may play well in London nightclubs but here in the battleground of the midwest we still find such references, even directed towards women we hate, as unacceptable.
So please, forward a link to your remark to as many poeple as possible and thank you for joining the fight to unsure maximum voter backlash and elect John McCain. Remember my elitist friends, every little slur helps!
